ABSTRACT: In the title mol-ecule, C13H21ClO2, there is an intra-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bond. The conformation about the C=C bond is E and the six-membered ring has a chair conformation. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by pairs of O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers, which are consolidated by C-H?O hydrogen bonds. The dimers are linked via C-H.·O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [100].

Project description:For the title compound, C(13)H(14)ClNO(3)S, geometrical parameters, determined using X-ray diffraction techniques, are compared with those calculated by density functional theory (DFT), using hybrid exchange-correlation functional, B3LYP methods. The dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the conjugated part of the cyclo-hexene ring is 87.47 (5)°. The cyclo-hexene ring and its substituents are disordered over two conformations, with occupancies of 0.786 (3) and 0.214 (3). In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into chains in the c-axis direction by inter-molecular N-H⋯O(C=O) hydrogen bonds. C-H⋯O inter-actions are also observed.

Project description:The title compound, C(8)H(10)O(4), was isolated from culture extracts of the endophytic fungus Xylaria sp. (PB-30). The cyclo-hexenone ring exhibits a flattened boat conformation. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules related by translation along the b axis are linked into chains through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Weak non-classical C-H⋯O contacts are also observed in the structure.

Project description:Five of the atoms of the six-membered cyclo-hexene ring of the title compound, C(17)H(20)O(2), are essentially coplanar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.006?Å), with the sixth (the dimethyl-methyl C atom) deviating from the mean plane of the five atoms by 0.610?(2)?Å. This plane is nearly perpendicular to the cinnamyl portion, the two planes being aligned at 85.1?(1)°. Two mol-ecules are linked by an O-H?O hydrogen bond about a center of inversion. The cyclo-hexene ring is disordered over two directly overlapping positions. As a result, the hy-droxy group and the keto O atom cannot be distinguished from one another.
