Dilithium hexa-hydroxidostannate(IV) dihydrate, a second monoclinic modification with a layer structure.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, Li2[Sn(OH)6]·2H2O, is dimorphic. As for the previously described ?-modification, the title ?-modification crystallizes in the monoclinic system and contains the same primary building units, viz [Sn(OH)6](2-) octa-hedra and [Li(?2-OH)3(H2O)] tetra-hedra. In contrast to the Sn-O bond lengths that are very similar in both modifications, the Li-O bond lengths differ significantly, in particular those involving the water mol-ecule. In the new ?-modification, the primary building units are linked into layers parallel to (010). The [Sn(OH)6](2-) octa-hedra (-1 symmetry) form hexa-gonal nets and the [Li(?2-OH)3(H2O)] tetra-hedra are situated in between, with their apices in an alternating fashion up and down. O-H?O hydrogen bonds between OH groups and water mol-ecules exist within the layers as well as between them.

Project description:The title compound, systematic name 9-isopropyl-idene-2,6-dimethyl-11-oxatricyclo-[6.2.1.0(1,5)]undec-6-en-8-ol, C(15)H(22)O(2), which crystallizes with two mol-ecules of similar conformation in the asymmetric unit, features three fused rings, two of which are five-membered and the third six-membered. Of the two five-membered rings, the one with an O atom has a distinct envelope shape (with the O atom representing the flap). The six-membered ring is also envelope-shaped as it shares a common O atom with the five-membered ring. In the crystal, the two independent mol-ecules are linked by a pair of O-H?O hydrogen bonds, generating a dimer.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(13)H(10)N)(2)[PtCl(6)]·2H(2)O, contains a protonated acridine cation, one half of a [PtCl(6)](2-) dianionic complex and a solvent water mol-ecule. The octa-hedral [PtCl(6)](2-) dianion is located on an inversion centre. ?-? inter-actions between neighboring acridinium cations produce stacks along the a axis; the shortest distance between the centroids of the six-membered rings within the cations is 3.553?(9)?Å. In the crystal, two independent inter-molecular O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, both involving the same Cl atom of the anion as acceptor, give rise to chains also running along the a axis; in addition each water mol-ecule, as a hydrogen-bond acceptor, is linked to the acridinium N-H group.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, 2C5H6N5 (+)·SiF6 (2-)·2H2O, contains one adeninium cation, half of a hexa-fluorido-silicate anion located on an inversion centre and one lattice water mol-ecule. The adeninium cations are connected through N-H?N hydrogen bonds involving one H atom of the -NH2 group and the H atom of the protonated N atom of the adenine ring system, forming centrosymmetric ring motifs of the type R 2 (2)(10) and R 2 (2)(8), respectively. The overall connection of the cation leads to the formation of planar ribbons parallel to (122). In the ribbons, slipped ?-? stacking inter-actions, with a centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.6938?(9)?Å, an inter-planar distance of 3.455?Å and a slippage of 1.306?Å is observed. The hexa-fluorido-silicate anion and the water mol-ecule are linked through O-H?F hydrogen bonds [ring motif R 4 (4)(12)] into chains parallel to [100]. The cationic ribbons and anionic chains are finally connected through additional N-H?O, N-H?F and O-H?F hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network in which layers of adeninium cations and fluorido-silicate anions alternate parallel to (001).

Project description:The title compound, 2C5H9N2 (+)·SiF6 (2-), (I), crystallized as a new polymorph, different from the previously reported one (Ia) [Light et al. (2007 ?) private communication (refcode: NIQFAV). CCDC, Cambridge, England]. The symmetry [space groups P21/n for (I) and C2/c for(Ia)] and crystal packing patterns are markedly different for this pair of polymorphs. In (I), all imidazolium cations in the lattice are nearly parallel to each other, whereas a herringbone arrangement can be found in (Ia). In (I), each SiF6 (2-) dianion forms four short C-H?F contacts with adjacent C5H9N2 (+) cations, resulting in the formation of layers parallel to the ac plane. In (Ia), the C-H?F contacts are generally longer and result in the formation of layers along the bc plane.

Project description:In the title hydrated mol-ecular salt, 2C(4)H(16)N(3) (3+)·P(6)O(18) (6-)·2H(2)O, the complete cyclo-hexa-phosphate anion is generated by crystallographic inversion symmetry. The six P atoms of the P(6)O(18) (6-) anion form a chair conformation and the organic cation has a corrugated linear geometry. In the crystal, the cations and the anions are connected by N-H?O hydrogen bonds into slabs propagating in the ac plane. The water mol-ecules link the slabs by accepting N-H?O links and forming O-H?O links. The triclinic polymorph was reported by Gharbi et al. [(1995). J. Solid State Chem.114, 42-51].

The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin with the minor domain being in a 15.8?(1)% proportion.
