Bibliometric is increasingly used for the analysis of discipline dynamics and management related decision-making. This study analyzes 937,923 keywords from 78,986 articles concerning forest ecology and conducts a serial analysis of these articles' characteristics. Project description:BackgroundWith the emerging information and communication technology, the field of medical informatics has dramatically evolved in health care and medicine. Thus, it is crucial to explore the global scientific research landscape on medical informatics.ObjectiveThis study aims to present a visual form to clarify the overall scientific research trends of medical informatics in the past decade.MethodsA bibliometric analysis of data retrieved and extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database was performed to analyze global scientific research trends on medical informatics, including publication year, journals, authors, institutions, countries/regions, references, and keywords, from January 1, 2011, to December 31, 2020.ResultsThe data set recorded 34,742 articles related to medical informatics from WoSCC between 2011 and 2020. The annual global publications increased by 193.86% from 1987 in 2011 to 5839 in 2020. Journal of Medical Internet Research (3600 publications and 63,932 citations) was the most productive and most highly cited journal in the field of medical informatics. David W Bates (99 publications), Harvard University (1161 publications), and the United States (12,927 publications) were the most productive author, institution, and country, respectively. The co-occurrence cluster analysis of high-frequency author keywords formed 4 clusters: (1) artificial intelligence in health care and medicine; (2) mobile health; (3) implementation and evaluation of electronic health records; (4) medical informatics technology application in public health. COVID-19, which ranked third in 2020, was the emerging theme of medical informatics.ConclusionsWe summarize the recent advances in medical informatics in the past decade and shed light on their publication trends, influential journals, global collaboration patterns, basic knowledge, research hotspots, and theme evolution through bibliometric analysis and visualization maps. These findings will accurately and quickly grasp the research trends and provide valuable guidance for future medical informatics research.

Project description:BackgroundAcute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) is life-threatening and needs urgent and highly invasive surgery. So far, there is no comprehensive review of the status quo of ATAAD studies. Therefore, this study aimed to quantify and identify the global trends of ATAAD research over the past two decades through bibliometric analysis and to provide reference for clinical practice, research funding allocation, and decision-making.MethodsThe original research articles and reviews related to ATAAD research were downloaded from the Web of Science Core Collection on March 19, 2023. CiteSpace (6.2.1) and VOSviewer (1.6.18) were used for bibliometric analysis of the number of publications by each country, institution, and authors and the establishment of knowledge maps. The raw data collected were examined using the Online Analysis Platform of Bibliometric to assess the collaboration of countries in the field.ResultsThe number of documents on ATAAD research increased continuously. A total of 1,943 publications published from 2002 to 2022 from 66 countries/regions were identified: 637 (32.78%) were conducted in China and 360 (18.53%) in the United States; 152 (cited frequency 941) were conducted by Capital Medical University and 107 (cited frequency 370) by Fujian Medical University. The Journal of Cardiac Surgery was the most frequently published journal (143 publications, cited frequency 695). The highest citation and co-cited journal was the Annals of Thoracic Surgery (cited frequency 3,888, co-cited frequency 6,224). We identified 8,050 authors among which Lizhong Sun (61 publications, cited frequency 721) had the largest number of publications, and Nienaber Christoph A (cited frequency 1,536, co-cited frequency 392) was co-cited most often. Meanwhile, the most common keywords were acute type A aortic dissection (occurrences, 1,211), surgery (occurrences, 657), repair (occurrences, 404), and management (occurrences, 386). The earliest and latest used keywords were "axillary artery" (average publication year: 2011.23) and "inflammation" (average publication year: 2019.09), respectively. The keyword "surgical treatment" (strength 12.31) and the co-cited reference "Evangelista A, 2018, Circulation" (strength 28.55) had the highest citation bursts. The keywords "impact" and "acute kidney injury" remained high citation bursts. The co-cited references with the largest and smallest size clusters were "cerebral protection" (#0, size = 126) and "pregnancy" (#12, size = 11). The reference "Hagan PG, 2000, JAMA" (cited frequency, 350) had the highest co-citations.ConclusionsThe bibliometric and visualized analysis generated objective evidence for a comprehensive understanding and evaluation of ATAAD research.

Project description:Sepsis is a systemic syndrome involving physiological, pathological, and biochemical abnormalities precipitated by infection and is a major global public health problem. Endothelial cells (ECs) dysfunction is a major contributor to sepsis-induced multiple organ failure. This bibliometric analysis aimed to identify and characterize the status, evolution of the field, and new research trends of ECs and sepsis over the past 20 years. For this analysis, the Web of Science Core Collection database was searched to identify relevant publications on ECs in sepsis published between January 1, 2002, and December 31, 2022. Microsoft Excel 2021, VOSviewer software, CiteSpace software, and the online analysis platform of literature metrology (http://bibliometric.com) were used to visualize the trends of publications' countries/regions, institutions, authors, journals, and keywords. In total, 4200 articles were identified and screened, primarily originating from 86 countries/regions and 3489 institutions. The USA was the leading contributor to this research field, providing 1501 articles (35.74 %). Harvard University's scientists were the most prolific, with 129 articles. Overall, 21,944 authors were identified, among whom Bae Jong Sup was the most prolific, contributing 129 publications. Additionally, Levi Marcel was the most frequently co-cited author, appearing 538 times. The journals that published the most articles were SHOCK, CRITICAL CARE MEDICINE, and PLOS ONE, accounting for 10.79 % of the total. The current emerging hotspots are concentrated on "endothelial glycocalyx," "NLRP3 inflammasome," "extracellular vesicle," "biomarkers," and "COVID-19," among others. In conclusion, this study provides a comprehensive overview of the scientific productivity and emerging research trends in the field of ECs in sepsis. The evidence supporting the significant role of ECs in both physiological and pathological responses to sepsis is continuously growing. More in-depth studies of the molecular mechanisms underlying sepsis-induced endothelial dysfunction and EC-targeted therapies are warranted in the future.

Project description:BackgroundIt is known that inflammatory bowel disease is the result of a defective immune system, and immunotherapy and biological therapy have gradually become important means to treat it. This paper focused on the bibliometric statistical analysis of the current research progress to summarize the research status of this field and analyze the research trends in recent years.MethodsTwo visualization tools, CiteSpace and VOSviewer, were used to explore the data of journals, institutions, countries/regions, authors, references, and keywords for the literature included in the Web of Science Core Collection from January 1, 2002, to December 31, 2021.ResultsA total of 312 papers were published in 120 journals by 603 institutions from 40 countries/regions, with 9463 co-cited references. The United States has the most publications with the highest total citations in the world. Inflammatory Bowel Diseases published the maximum number of papers, and Gastroenterology devoted the most co-citations to immunotherapy and biological therapy for IBD. In addition, we found that the studies before 2009 mostly focused on clinical trials while researchers have paid more attention to clinical management in therapy for IBD since 2009. Combination therapy and management of the treatment for the disease have become research hotspots.ConclusionThe focus of immunotherapy and biotherapy for IBD has shifted from clinical trials to the management of the risks and benefits of immunotherapy.

Project description:BackgroundExosomes are small vesicles of endosomal origin, and they can be used for the diagnosis and the treatment. However, limited data were for the evaluation of the trend of exosome researches. This study aims to investigate the trend of exosome researches and compare the contribution of research from different regions, organizations and authors.MethodsExosome related publications from 2007 to 2016 were retrieved from the Web of Science database. Excel, GraphPad Prism 5 and VOSviewer software were used to analyze the research trend.ResultsA total of 1852 papers were identified and were cited 62967 times. The United States accounted for 38.8% of the articles, 42.0% of the citations, and the highest H-index (76). China ranked the second in the number of articles, but the sixth in citation frequency (4337) and the fourth in H-index (36). The journals, PLoS ONE and J Biol Chem had the highest number of publications. The author, Gabrielsson S., has published the most papers in this field (22). The keyword "ribonucleic acid" was mentioned the most at 746 times, and the words, "stem cell", "drug resistance" and "monocyte cell factor" were the latest hotspots appeared around 2015.ConclusionLiterature growth related to exosome is expanding rapidly. The quality of the articles from China still requires improvement. Recent studies focus on the relationship with tumor, and "stem cell", "drug resistance" and "michigan cancer foundation-7" may be the newest topics that should be closely followed in exosome research.

Project description:BackgroundAn increasing number of studies have found that the gut microbiota was related to the occurrence and development of lung cancer. Nonetheless, publication trends and research hotspots in this field remain unknown. The study aimed to perform a bibliometric analysis to systematically identify publication trends and research hotspots in the field of gut microbiota and lung cancer research within a 12-year panorama.MethodsPublications related to the gut microbiota and lung cancer between 1 January 2011 and 25 October 2022 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database. The online analytic tool of the WoSCC was used to analyze various bibliometric parameters. The bibliometrics website, CiteSpace, and VOSviewer were used to identify research trends and hotspots.ResultsA total of 375 publications related to the gut microbiota and lung cancer were extracted from WoSCC and identified for analysis. The number of annual publications has grown rapidly since 2018 and reached a peak in 2022. China was the most prolific country in this field, with 120 publications, followed by the United States (114), with the highest H-index of 31. Additionally, France ranked the highest with an average of 133 citations, while the leading institution and journal were the Unicancer and the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, respectively. Interestingly, Routy Bertrand was the most prolific author and also the most cited author in terms of H-index and citations. Reference and keyword burst detection indicated that the research hotspots mainly included 1) the gut microbiota directly affects the efficacy of immunotherapy for lung cancer, 2) the application of different gut bacteria on lung cancer, and 3) the mechanism of the gut microbiota on lung cancer.ConclusionThe findings of this study revealed the general publication trends and evolving research hotspots in the field of gut microbiota and lung cancer at a global level. The research hotspots focused on the clinical application of the gut microbiota combined with immunotherapy in lung cancer and its mechanism. The findings of this study provide new perspectives on the field, which may shed light on a beneficial impact on further etiological studies, diagnosis, and treatment for lung cancer.

Project description:Clavulanic acid (CA), a potent inhibitor of the ?-lactam, ase enzyme, is frequently co-formulated with a broad spectrum of antibiotics to treat infections caused by ?-lactamase-producing pathogens. In order to evaluate the impact and the progress of CA studies in the last four decades, a bibliometric analysis of the global scientific production of CA was carried out. A total of 39,758 records in the field of CA were indexed in the Scopus database for a 43-year period of study (1975?2017). The results indicated that CA studies have grown, showing three phases (1975?1999, 2000?2003 and 2004?2017) based on records of publications; the results showed a sigmoidal profile. Medicine was the main subject area for CA studies, whereas biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology were areas of research for CA production by Streptomyces clavuligerus (S. clavuligerus). Nevertheless, chemical engineering (as a subject area) had the highest increase in the percentage of publications related to CA production by S. clavuligerus. The United States, France, the United Kingdom, Spain and Brazil were the leading countries in the scientific production of studies on both CA and CA related to S. clavuligerus. This analysis allowed the identification of the area of knowledge with the highest impact on CA studies, the top researchers and their geographic distribution, and also helped to highlight the existence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria as an emergent area in CA research.

Project description:Background and Objectives: The evaluative strength of available bibliometric tools in the field of clinical embryology has never been examined in the literature. The aim is to bring insight regarding the identity of clinical embryology research, introducing concerns when solely relying on the methodology of bibliometric analysis. Methods: An all-inclusive analysis of the most bibliometrically highlighted scientific contributions regarding the cornerstones of clinical embryology was performed employing the Scopus, Web of Science (WoS) and PubMed databases, between 1978-2018. An analysis of the number of publications, respective citations and h-index, g-index, along with m-quotient is presented. The top 30 contributing authors for each distinctive area of research are listed. An attempt at visualizing the yearly published articles, clusters, and collaborations of authors, along with the geographic origin of publications, is also presented. Results: Combining all searches and keywords yielded 54,522 results. In the Scopus database, employing the keyword "In Vitro Fertilization" yielded 41,292 results. The publications of the top five authors in each research field were analytically presented and compared to the total number of publications for each respective field. The research field of Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis/Screening/Testing was allocated the highest percentage of publications produced by the top five authors. Regarding journal bibliometrics, based on the year 2017 metrics, there are only 29 journals according to WoS that refer to "Reproductive Biology", ranking it 187th among 235 disciplines. The USA produced the highest number of publications (12,537). Conclusion: Results indicate an explosion of interest published in the literature regarding the field of clinical embryology. Further analysis on collaborations and the trends involved should be of added value as productivity between countries varies significantly. This may guide researchers, in vitro fertilization professionals, and prospective authors during literature search, while proving useful regarding manuscript design and concurring on keywords and abstract content.

Project description:The emergence and rapid development of human organoids have provided the possibility to replace animal models in treating human diseases. Intelligence studies help focus on research hotspots and address key mechanistic issues. Currently, few comprehensive studies describe the characteristics of human organoid research. In this study, we extracted 8,591 original articles on organoids from the Web of Science core collection database over the past two decades and conducted intelligence analysis using CiteSpace. The number of publications in this field has experienced rapid growth in the last ten years (almost 70-fold increase since 2009). The United States, China, Germany, Netherlands, and UK have strong collaborations in publishing articles. Clevers Hans, Van Der Laan, Jason R Spence, and Sato Toshiro have made significant contributions to advancing progress in this field. Clustering and burst analysis categorized research hotspots into tissue model and functional construction, intercellular signaling, immune mechanisms, and tumor metastasis. Organoid research in highly cited articles covers four major areas: basic research (38%), involving stem cell developmental processes and cell-cell interactions; biobanking (10%), with a focus on organoid cultivation; precision medicine (16%), emphasizing cell therapy and drug development; and disease modeling (36%), including pathogen analysis and screening for disease-related genetic variations. The main obstacles currently faced in organoid research include cost and technology, vascularization of cells, immune system establishment, international standard protocols, and limited availability of high-quality clinical trial data. Future research will focus on cost-saving measures, technology sharing, development of international standards, and conducting high-level clinical trials.

Project description:BackgroundGut microbiota is a complex ecosystem that is vital for the development and function of the immune system, is closely associated with host immunity, and affects human health and disease. Therefore, the current progress and trends in this field must be explored.PurposeNo bibliometric analysis has been conducted on gut microbiota and host immune response. This study aimed to analyze the current progress and developing trends in this field through bibliometric and visual analysis.MethodsGlobal publications on gut microbiota and host immune response from January 2011 to December 2021 were extracted from the Web of Science (WOS) collection database. GraphPad Prism, VOSviewer software, and CiteSpace were employed to perform a bibliometric and visual study.ResultsThe number of publications has rapidly increased in the last decade but has declined in the most recent year. The Cooperation network shows that the United States, Harvard Medical School, and Frontiers in Immunology were the most active country, institute, and journal in this field, respectively. Co-occurrence analysis divided all keywords into four clusters: people, animals, cells, and diseases. The latest keyword within all clusters was "COVID," and the most frequently occurring keyword was "SCFA."ConclusionGut microbiota and host immune response remain a research hotspot, and their relation to cancer, CNS disorders, and autoimmune disease has been explored. However, additional studies on gut microbiota must be performed, particularly its association with bacterial strain screening and personalized therapy.
