ABSTRACT: Two new Vertomannus species, Vertomannus flavus sp. n. (south Vietnam) and Vertomannus borneensis sp. n. (Borneo) are described. Vertomannus (Elongatomannus), subgen. n. (type species: Vertomannus flavus) is proposed.

Onychocamptus Daday, 1903 from Thailand, with descriptions of two new species and two new records (Crustacea, Copepoda, Harpacticoida, Laophontidae).

Project description:In this paper, two new species of Onychocamptus Daday, 1903 are described from Thailand: Onychocamptussatunensis sp. n. and Onychocamptustratensis sp. n. The following features mainly distinguish O.satunensis sp. n. from known species: internal sausage-like and internal rounded structures on cephalothorax and one outer seta on the male P5 exopod that is as long as the supporting segment. In contrast, the cephalothorax of O.tratensis sp. n. is smooth but has rounded integumental window-like structures, and the outer seta on the male P5 exopod is two times as long as the supporting segment. Onychocamptusanomalus shows the highest similarity with the two new species, but in contrast to both Thai species, it has only one seta on the exopod of the antenna. In addition, in the present study, two additional species, O.bengalensis and O.vitiospinulosa, are newly recorded in Thailand. Thus, the number of Onychocamptus species recorded in Thailand increases to five species. A key to all known species of this genus in the world is also proposed.

Project description:The Caucasian subgenus Plumiger Horváth, 1927 of the halticine genus Myrmecophyes Fieber, 1870 is revised. A key, updated diagnoses, and data on distribution are given for the subgenus and its four species, including M.tomi sp. n. (Georgia and Dagestan), and the previously unknown male of M.armeniacus Drapolyuk, 1989. Illustrations of the male and female genitalia, photographs of the dorsal habitus, and SEM micrographs of selected structures are provided for all species of the subgenus.

Dilkea hebes Feuillet, sp. nov., has leaves with elliptic to oblanceolate blades that are dull adaxially, and spherical fruits with thick walls; Dilkea nitens Feuillet, sp. nov., has leaves with narrow-ovate blades that are shiny adaxially, and fruits with an apical cone and thin walls. A key to the species of subgenus Dilkea is provided.

Taxonomic changes in some predominantly Palaearctic distributed genera of Drymini (Heteroptera, Rhyparochromidae).

Project description:The history of the taxonomic research of Rhyparochromidae and especially Drymini is briefly reviewed. Two new species level synonyms are proposed: Taphropeltus javanus Bergroth, 1916, syn. n. = Taphropeltus australis Bergroth, 1916, syn. n. = Brentiscerus putoni (Buchanan White, 1878). A monotypic new genus, Malipatilius gen. n. (type species: Scolopostethus forticornis Gross, 1965 from Australia) is established.

Molecular phylogeny of the Pseudallescheria boydii species complex: proposal of two new species.

Project description:Pseudallescheria boydii (anamorph Scedosporium apiospermum) is the species responsible for human scedosporiosis, a fungal infection with a high mortality rate and which is difficult to treat. Recently, it has been demonstrated that high genetic variation exists within this species. We have performed a morphological and molecular study involving numerous strains of clinical or environmental origins and from different countries. The analysis of partial sequences of the beta-tubulin (two loci) and calmodulin genes and the internal transcribed spacer region of the rRNA gene has demonstrated that P. boydii is a species complex. The combined analysis of the sequences of the four loci of 60 strains has showed the presence of 44 haplotypes in the in group. Three species morphologically related to P. boydii sensu stricto, i.e., Pseudallescheria angusta, Pseudallescheria ellipsoidea, and Pseudallescheria fusoidea, which had previously been considered synonyms, could be differentiated genetically from P. boydii in our study. It is relevant that two of the three strains now included in P. ellipsoidea have caused invasive infections. The species Pseudallescheria minutispora and Scedosporium aurantiacum are clearly phylogenetically separated from the other species studied and are here proposed as new. Morphological features support this proposal. All the strains included in S. aurantiacum species have a clinical origin, while those included in P. minutispora are environmental. Further studies are needed to demonstrate whether all the species included in the P. boydii complex have different clinical spectra and antifungal susceptibility.
