ABSTRACT: The title mol-ecule, C26H18N2O6S2, has an overall Z-shaped conformation, in which the benzene rings are inclined to the anthra-quinone mean plane by 60.60?(9) and 50.66?(13)°. In the crystal, N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into layers parallel to the bc plane.

Project description:The crystal structure of the well-studied 9,10-bis-(1,3-di-thiol-2-yl-idene)-9,10-di-hydro-anthracene mol-ecule, C20H12S4, (I), also known as exTTF, is reported. The mol-ecular structure of (I) consists of a di-hydro-anthracene moiety with two 1,3-di-thiol-2-yl-idene substituents. This is a saddle-shaped mol-ecule, which inter-acts with a close neighbor through various ?-? and C-H?? contacts to form a 'dimer'. These 'dimers' inter-act through a series of C-H?S and C-H?? contacts to construct a complex three-dimensional extended structure.

Project description:The title compound, [Pd(4)(CH(2))(2)Cl(4)(C(28)H(40)P(2))(2)]·5C(4)H(8)O, possesses a tetra-nuclear palladium core with four bridging chlorido ligands and two bridging methyl-ene units, as well as two bridging anthracene-based bis-phosphine ligands. This tetra-nuclear complex can be considered as being composed of two ?-chlorido-bridged LPd(2) units. The structural motif of these LPd(2) units shows two doubly bridged palladium centers between the P atoms of the bis-phosphine ligand. One of these bridges is a ?-Cl atom, the other a ?-methyl-ene group. The coordination environment around each palladium center is essentially square planar. We ascribe the oxidation state +II to the palladium centers and do not assume Pd-Pd bonds [shortest distances 2.8110?(5) and 2.8109?(6)?Å]. Co-crystallized with the palladium complex we found five non-coordinating tetra-hydro-furan solvent mol-ecules, one of which is disordered over two positions in a 0.429?(9):0.571?(8) ratio.

Project description:In the title compound, C(28)H(18)O(4)·2C(3)H(7)NO, the dihedral angle between the benzene rings and the anthracene system is 74.05?(12)°. A crystallographic inversion centre is located in the middle of the anthracene unit. The dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecules are partially disordered over two positions of approximately equal occupancy [0.529?(6):0.471?(6)]. Inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds with the major occupancy formamide O atom as acceptor result in the formation of 2:1 solvate-complex aggregates, which are alternately linked to shorter solvate units via weak inter-molecular C-H?O contacts generated from the rotational disorder of the formamide O atom (minor occupancy component). Weak C-H?? inter-actions between the solvent mol-ecules as the donor and the outer anthracene rings support these contacts in the crystal structure for both disorder components.

Project description:The title complex, [Mn(2)(C(18)H(4)O(10))(H(2)O)(4)](n), was synthesized from manganese(II) chloride tetra-hydrate and 9,10-dioxo-9,10-dihydro-anthracene-1,4,5,8-tetra-carb-oxy-lic acid (H(4)AQTC) in water. The anthraquinone unit is located about a crystallographic center of inversion. Each asymmetric unit therefore contains one Mn(II) atom, two water ligands and one half AQTC(4-) anion. The Mn(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by four O atoms from three AQTC(4-) ligands and two water O atoms. Two of the carboxyl-ate groups coordinate one Mn(II) atom in a chelating mode, whereas the others each coordinate two Mn(II) atoms. Each AQTC(4-) tetra-anion therefore coordinates six different Mn(II) ions and, as a result, a three-dimensional coordination polymer is formed. O-H?O hydrogen bonds, some of them bifurcated, between water ligands and neighboring water or anthraquinone ligands are observed in the crystal structure.

The dihedral angle between phenyl substituents in the 1,8-positions is 55.1?(1)°. The ethyl groups are disordered over two sets of sites, with occupancy ratios of 0.648?(9):0.352?(9) and 0.816?(1):0.184?(1). In the crystal, pairs of C-H?? inter-actions link the mol-ecules into inversion dimers.
