{2,2'-[(1,2-Di-cyano-ethene-1,2-di-yl)bis-(nitrilo-methanylyl-idyne)]diphenolato-?(4) O,N,N',O'}(methanol-?O)zinc.

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Zn(C18H10N4O2)(CH4O)], the Zn(2+) cation is located on a mirror plane and is coordinated by a tetradentate Schiff base ligand anion (L (2-)) and a methanol mol-ecule. The Zn(2+) cation is surrounded by two N atoms and two O atoms from L (2-), in a nearly planar configuration, and one methanol O atom, forming a slightly distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The methanol molecule is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.5:0.5 ratio. In the crystal, O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into chains parallel to [001].

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Mn(C(28)H(30)N(2)O(2))Cl(H(2)O)][Mn(C(28)H(30)N(2)O(2))Cl(CH(3)OH)], contains two discrete Mn(III) complexes of a Schiff base ligand, with an N(2)O(2) donor set. Both Mn(III) centers are in a distorted octa-hedral geometry with the N(2)O(2) donor atoms of the tetra-dentate Schiff base dianion in the equatorial plane. The axial positions in the coordination environment of one Mn(III) complex are occupied by a chloride ion and a water mol-ecule, but a methanol mol-ecule replaces the water mol-ecule in the other complex. The coordinated water mol-ecule takes part in an O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bond between the two Mn(III) complexes. In the crystal structure, O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into infinite one-dimensional chains along the [100] direction. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds together with weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl inter-actions. A C-H⋯π inter-action is also observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title complex, [Mn(C(20)H(12)Cl(2)N(2)O(2))Cl(CH(3)OH)], the Mn(III) atom is in an octa-hedral coordination geometry with the N(2)O(2) atoms of the doubly-deprotonated Schiff base forming a square around it. The chloride ion and the O atom of the methanol mol-ecule occupy the other two positions of the octa-hedron. The dihedral angle between the two outer phenolate rings of the tetra-dentate ligand is 20.27 (12)°. The central phenyl-ene ring makes dihedral angles of 18.62 (12) and 6.02 (12)° with the two outer phenolate rings. Hydrogen bonds of the O-H⋯Cl type link the mol-ecules into an infinite chain along [010]. These chains are arranged into sheets parallel to the ab plane and these sheets are connected by weak C-H⋯Cl inter-actions into a three-dimensional network. The crystal structure is further stabilized by C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:In the title complex, [Co(C(18)H(18)N(2)O(4))(C(2)H(3)O(2))(H(2)O)]·2CH(3)OH, the Co(III) atom is hexa-coordinated by water and acetate groups in the axial positions and by the tetra-dentate Schiff base occupying equatorial positions. These axial bonds are longer than the equatorial bonds to the tetra-dentate Schiff base. Two mol-ecules form a dimer through strong hydrogen bonds from the coordinated water of one mol-ecule to the meth-oxy O atoms of an adjoining mol-ecule. There is extensive intra- and inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonding between the coordinated water and acetate ligands and the methanol solvent mol-ecules. In addition, there are weak inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions, which link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional array.

The crystal structure is further stabilized by C-H⋯π inter-actions involving the central benzene ring.
