Invasive fungal infection due to Triadelphia pulvinata in a patient with acute myeloid leukemia.

ABSTRACT: Triadelphia pulvinata is a rare dematiaceous fungus found in soil. We report the first case of invasive disease in a patient with acute myeloid leukemia who had a bloodstream infection with possibly both lung and brain involvement. Identification was by combined phenotypic features and fungal ribosomal DNA sequence analysis.
