CX3CL1 at the crossroad of EGF signals: Relevance for the progression of ERBB2+ breast carcinoma.

ABSTRACT: Inflammatory mediators can play a dual role in oncogenesis and tumor progression. CX3CL1, a chemokine previously implicated in natural killer cell- and CD8+ T cell-mediated antitumor immune responses, has now been identified as a promoter of ERBB2-expressing breast carcinomas as it cross-activates members of the epidermal growth factor receptor family.
