Redetermination of bis-(acetyl-acetonato-?(2) O,O')(1,10-phenanthroline-?(2) N,N')manganese(II).

ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Mn(C5H7O2)2(C12H8N2)], the Mn(2+) cation is coordinated by one bidentate 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two acetyl-acetonate anions within a slightly distorted N2O4 octa-hedron. The asymmetric unit consists of one Mn(2+) cation situated on a twofold rotation axis, one half of a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and one acetyl-acetonate anion. In comparison with the previous determination based on visually estimated intensities recorded on precession photographs, the current redetermination with image-plate data reveals bond lengths and angles with much higher precision.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(5)H(7)O(2))(C(2)N(3))(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·2H(2)O, the Cu(II) atom is five-coordinated in a square-pyramidal geometry with two acetyl-acetonate O and two phenanthroline N atoms forming the base. The apical position is occupied by the central N atom of the dicyanamide ligand. The dicyanamide N atoms are each involved in hydrogen bonds to water mol-ecules. There are also hydrogen bonds between both the water mol-ecules and their centrosymmetric pairs, creating a hydrogen-bonded chain along the b-axis direction.

Project description:In the title compound, [Mn(2)(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)], the Mn(II) atom in the centrosymmetric binuclear unit has a distorted octa-hedral geometry and is coordinated by a chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, two monodentate carboxyl-ate anions from two 4-nitro-phthalates and two coordinated water mol-ecules. The two Mn(II) ions in the mol-ecule are bridged by two 4-nitro-phthalate anions, both in a bis-monodentate mode, which finally leads to the formation of the binuclear unit. Intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated and uncoordinated O atoms of one monodentate carboxyl-ate group and the corresponding coordinated water mol-ecules result in an eight-membered and two six-membered rings. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the dinuclear mol-ecules into supra-molecular chains propagating parallel to [100].

The nitrate anion is disordered about a twofold rotation axis with fixed occupancy factors of 0.5. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 4.088?(5)?Å] into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Mn(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]SO(4)·6H(2)O, the complex cations assemble into positively charged sheets parallel to (010) via inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions with a mean interplanar distance of 3.410?(6) along [100] and 3.465?(5)?Å along [001]. The sulfate anions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules are inter-connected between these layers by hydrogen bonds, forming negatively charged layers which are linked to the positive layers through O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional architecture. Both the positive and negative sheets are stacked along [010] in an ?ABAB? sequence, the A layers being shifted by 1/2a along [100] with respect to the B layers. One of the uncoordinated water molecules is equally disordered over two positions.

The asymmetric unit is completed with by an uncoordinated half-mol-ecule of dmphen, disordered about a crystallographic twofold axis. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked into a two-dimensional framework by O-H?N, O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds. The packing of the structure is further stabilized by ?-? stacking inter-actions involving dmphen mol-ecules, with centroid-centroid separations of 3.8027?(3) and 3.6319?(3)?Å.

Project description:The title complex, [Mn(C(5)O(5))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], lies across a crystallographic twofold axis which passes through the Mn atom and bisects the croconate ligand. The two 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands are arranged in a propeller manner and the local mol-ecular geometry of the MnN(4)O(2) unit is severely distorted octa-hedral. This may be inter-preted as a structural perturbation of the MnN(4) square by the croconate ligand. In the crystal structure, the dipole moments of the mol-ecules are arranged alternately along the +b and -b directions. All the phen ligands are involved in ? stacking inter-actions, alternately along the [110] and [10] directions. The alternate spacings between the neighbouring phen planes in the one-dimensional ? stacks are 3.361?(2) and 3.526?(2)?Å.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)], the Cu(II) atom is coordinated in a square-planar fashion by the two N atoms of a chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and by two water mol-ecules trans to the N atoms. The coordination sphere of the metal atom is augmented by O atoms of two weakly bonded perchlorate anions, thus yielding a strongly distorted CuN(2)O(4) octa-hedral environment. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the water mol-ecules and the perchlorate anions. In addition, the organic mol-ecules are associated by π-π stacking inter-actions between symmetry-equivalent anti-parallel non-nitro-gen aromatic rings, with inter-planar distances of 3.543 (2) Å.
