ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Co2(C8H7O2)4(C7H10N2)2], crystallizes as a centrosymmetric dimer containing two Co(II) atoms bridged by four bidentate phenyl-acetate ligands in syn-syn bridging modes. Each Co(II) atom is five-coordinated by four O atoms from four different carboxyl-ate ligands and the ring N atom of a 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridine unit, generating a distorted square-pyramidal geometry in which the four O atoms form the basal plane and the N atom occupies the axial position. In the crystal, C-H?O inter-actions link the dinuclear complex mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Sn(4)(C(7)H(6)Cl)(8)(C(8)H(7)O(2))(2)O(2)(OH)(2)], comprises one-half of the centrosymmetric tin(IV) complex. ?(3)-Oxide and ?(2)-hydroxide bridges link the four five-coordinate Sn(IV) atoms to generate three fused four-membered Sn-O-Sn-O rings in a ladder-like structure. The two endocyclic Sn atoms each bind to two ?(3)-oxide anions and a ?(2)-hydroxide ligand, together with two 2-chloro-benzyl groups. The exocyclic Sn atoms each carry a monodentate phenyl-acetate ligand, two 2-chloro-benzyl groups, and ?(3)-oxide and ?(2)-hydroxide ligands. Both types of Sn atoms adopt a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by intra-molecular O-H?O inter-actions involving the ?(2)-hydroxide ligands and the C=O group of the phenyl-acetate ligand.

The macrocyclic metallacrown consists of an -[Mn(III)-N-O]4- ring repeat unit, and the metallacrown captures one Y(III) ion and one Na(I) ion in the central cavity on opposite faces of the metallacrown. Overall the metallacrown is domed towards the side of the Na(I) ion. Both the Y(III) and Na(I) ions are eight-coordinate, and the tri-methyl-acetate anions bridge the central Y(III) to each ring Mn(III) ion. The ring Mn(III) ions are six-coordinate with a tetra-gonally distorted octa-hedral geometry.

Project description:Mol-ecules of the title compound, C(22)H(24)N(2)O(2)S(2), lie across centres of inversion. The two thio-pyridine N-oxide groups adopt a stepped trans configuration with respect to the benzene ring, by virtue of the symmetry. The oxopyridinium ring forms a dihedral angle of 79.9 (2)° with the benzene ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by a strong π-π inter-action between the pyridinium rings of adjacent mol-ecules [ring centroid-centroid distance = 3.464 (3) Å].
