The oral bacterium, Campylobacter rectus, is an etiological agent of periodontitis. The virulence genes of C. rectus are largely unknown. The aim of this study was to query C. rectus for the presence of an invasion antigen B (ciaB) gene, which is needed for cell invasion by the related species Campylobacter jejuni.
