Tri-methyl-phospho-nium trans-tetra-chlorido-bis-(tri-methyl-phosphane-?P)iridate(III).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [HP(CH3)3][IrCl4{(H3C)3P}2], consists of a tri-methyl-phospho-nium cation and a tetra-chlorido-bis-(tri-methyl-phosphane)iridate(III) anion. The anion has an octa-hedral arrangement of ligands, with the tri-methyl-phosphane groups occupying trans positions. The Ir(III) atom sits on an inversion center with one P(CH3)3 ligand and two chloride ligands in the asymmetric unit. The tri-methyl-phospho-nium cation is disordered about a twofold rotation axis. The title compound is the first structurally characterized tetra-chlorido-bis-(phosphane)iridate complex.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title salt, C(44)H(38)P(2) (2+)2BF(4) (-), consists of discrete dications inter-laced with the BF(4) (-) counter-ions. In each cation, both phospho-nium groups lie on the same side of the plane of the central benzene ring. The tetra-fluoro-borate anions are involved in intensive thermal motion, thus some B-F bond lengths [range 1.329?(6) to 1.391?(6)?Å] deviate significantly from their standard values.

Project description:The title compound, (C21H20OP)(C19H15N4)[CuCl4], was obtained by reacting CuCl2·2H2O with a mixture of one equivalent of acetonyltri-phenyl-phospho-nium chloride and one equivalent of 2,3,5-tri-phenyl-tetra-zolium chloride in aceto-nitrile. In the structure, the Cu centre in the dianion is bonded to four chloride ligands and adopts a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The phospho-nium cation likewise adopts the expected tetra-hedral geometry. The tetra-zolium ring forms dihedral angles of 77.68 (10), 26.85 (11) and 66.48 (10)° with the planes of the benzene rings of the substituent groups. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving both cations and the anion give rise to a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The well known title compound, trans-[Mo(C18H15P)2(CO)4], has not been studied previously by X-ray crystallography, unlike its cis isomer. The complex possesses crystallographically imposed inversion symmetry, with the Mo atom residing on an inversion centre (1a Wyckoff position). The two tri-phenyl-phosphane groups are arranged in a staggered orientation. Each of the phenyl groups exhibits significantly different Mo-P-C-C torsion angles ranging from 2.6?(2) to 179.4?(1)°, most likely due to steric inter-actions based upon their positions relative to the carbonyl ligands.

Project description:The mol-ecular geometry of the complex cation in the title structure, [(?-Cl)(3){Ru(II)(?(6)-C(6)Me(6))}(2)][Fe(III)Cl(4)], compares very well with that reported earlier for the corresponding PF(6) (-) salt [Pandey et al. (1999 ?). J. Organomet. Chem.592, 278-282]. The [FeCl(4)](-) counter ion has a rather regular tetra-hedral geometry with Fe-Cl distances and Cl-Fe-Cl angles in the range 2.1891?(7)-2.2018?(8)?Å and 107.10?(3)-110.56?(3)°, respectively. There are no significant inter-molecular inter-actions in the crystal except for some weak C-H?Cl contacts, which in turn indicates that the crystal packing is determined predominantly by electrostatic inter-actions between the ionic constituents.

Project description:The complex title salt, (C21H20OP)2[CoCl4], is the reaction product of CoCl2 with acetonyltri-phenyl-phospho-nium chloride in aceto-nitrile. In the anion, the Co(II) atom exhibits a typical tetra-hedral environment, with Co-Cl distances ranging from 2.2721?(6) to 2.2901?(6)?Å, and with Cl-Co-Cl angles ranging from 106.12?(2) to 112.24?(2)°. The two phospho-nium cations likewise show the expected tetra-hedral configuration, with P-C distances ranging from 1.785?(2) to 1.8059?(18)?Å and C-P-C angles ranging from 106.98?(8) to 112.85?(15)°. The mol-ecules inter-act in the lattice mainly through Coulombic and van der Waals forces because there is no particular polarity to the charges carried by the cations or anion. In the crystal, the cations and anions are arranged in sheets parallel to (001).

Project description:The title compound, [Ir2H2O(C3H9P)6](BF4)2·2H2O, was isolated from the reaction between [Ir(COD)(PMe3)3]BF4 and H2 in water (COD is cyclo-octa-1,5-diene). The asymmetric unit consists of one Ir(III) atom bonded to three PMe3 groups, one hydride ligand and half an oxide ligand, in addition to a BF4 (-) counter-ion and one water molecule of hydration. The single oxide ligand bridging two Ir(III) atoms is disordered across an inversion center with each O atom having a 50% site occupancy. Each Ir(III) atom has three PMe3 groups occupying facial positions, with the half-occupancy O atoms, a hydride ligand and an Ir-Ir bond completing the coordination sphere. The Ir-Ir distance is 2.8614?(12)?Å, comparable to other iridium(III) metal-metal bonds. Two water mol-ecules hydrogen bond to two BF4 (-) anions in the unit cell.

Project description:The title compound, [Pd2Cl2(C6H5S)2(C18H15P)2]·2CHCl3, contains a centrosymmetric dinuclear palladium complex with the Pd(II) cation in a slightly distorted square-planar coordination environment. The Pd(II) cations are bridged by the S atoms of two benzene-thiol-ate ligands with different Pd-S distances [2.2970?(11) and 2.3676?(11)?Å]. The coordination of the metal atom is completed by a chloride anion [2.3383?(11)?Å] and a tri-phenyl-phosphane ligand [2.2787?(11)?Å]. Weak C-H?Cl inter-actions are present between complex mol-ecules and the CHCl3 solvent mol-ecule. The latter is disordered over two positions in a 0.792?(8):0.208?(8) ratio. The crystal under investigation was found to be twinned by nonmerohedry, with a fraction of 73.4?(1)% for the major twin component.
