Hexa-aqua-nickel(II) di-hydrogen hypodiphosphate.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ni(H2O)6](H2P2O6), contains one-half of the hexa-aqua-nickel(II) cation and one-half of the di-hydrogen hypodiphosphate anion. In the complex cation, the Ni(2+) atom is located on an inversion center and has an octa-hedral coordination sphere. The P-P distance in the centrosymmetric anion is 2.1853?(7)?Å. In the crystal, discrete [Ni(H2O)6](2+) cations and (H2P2O6)(2-) anions are stacked in columns parallel to the c axis and are linked into a three-dimensional network by medium-strength O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:Single crystals of the title compound, K(2)[Ni(H(2)O)(6)][ZrF(6)](2), were grown by slow evaporation of a 40% aqueous HF solution in which a stoichiometric mixture of NiCl(2)·6H(2)O, ZrF(4) and KCl was dissolved. The monoclinic structure is isotypic with its K(2)Cu, K(2)Zn, Cs(2)Zn and Cs(2)Cu analogues. The structure is built up from isolated, slightly elongated octa-hedral [Ni(H(2)O)(6)](2+) complex cations (symmetry ) and dimeric [Zr(2)F(12)](4-) complex anions (symmetry ) that are also isolated from each other. The [Zr(2)F(12)](4-) anion results from the association of two distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal [ZrF(7)] coordination polyhedra by sharing an equatorial edge passing through an inversion center of the unit cell. Both isolated [Ni(H(2)O)(6)](2+) and [Zr(2)F(12)](4-) complex ions are situated in planes parallel to (010). They are connected by the eight-coordinated K(+) ions into a three-dimensional structure. An intricate O-H?F hydrogen-bonding network consolidates the structure.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(H2O)6][BaCr(C2O4)3(H2O)3]2·4H2O, was obtained in the form of single crystals from the slow evaporation of an aqueous mixture of {Ba6(H2O)17[Cr(C2O4)3]4}·7H2O and NiSO4·6H2O in the molar ratio 1:4. Its structure is made up of corrugated anionic (101) layers of formula [BaCr(C2O4)3(H2O)3] n n - that leave voids accommodating the charge-compensating cations, [Ni(H2O)6]2+ (point group symmetry ), as well as the water mol-ecules of crystallization. The anionic layers are built from the connection of barium and chromium atoms through bridging oxalate ligands. The CrIII atom is hexa-coordinated by O atoms of three oxalate ligands while the BaII atom is tenfold coordinated by three O atoms of water mol-ecules and seven O atoms of four oxalate ligands. Each NiII atom sits on an inversion center and is coordinated by six water mol-ecules. One of the uncoordinated water mol-ecules is disordered over two sites, with a refined occupancy ratio of 0.51 (5):0.49 (5). In the crystal, extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions link the anionic layers, the charge-balancing cations as well as the water mol-ecules of crystallization into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

The other Ni(2+) cation, located in a general position, is coordinated by six N atoms from three ligands. In both cases, the Ni(2+) cation has an octa-hedral coordination environment. The overall structural cohesion is ensured by three types of hydrogen bonds, N-H?Br, O-H?Br and O-H?O, which connect the two types of complex cations, the bromide counter-anions and the lattice water molecules into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title salt, (C2H8N)2[Ni(H2O)6)](SO4)2·2H2O, the Ni(II) cation is located on a centre of inversion and exhibits a slightly distorted octa-hedral arrangement of water mol-ecules. The Ni-O bond lengths in the complex [Ni(H2O)6](2+) cation show a distribution as in the related Tutton salt (NH4)2[Ni(H2O)6](SO4)2, but are longer in average [2.056?(13) versus 2.037?(12)?Å]. The noncoordinating water mol-ecules and di-methyl-ammonium cations connect the sulfate and [Ni(H2O)6](2+) octa-hedra via O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds from weak up to medium strength into a three-dimensional framework whereby the complex metal cations and sulfate anions are arranged in sheets parallel (001).

Project description:In the title salt, [(CH3)2NH2][Cu(HSO4)(SO4)(H2O)4], one type of cation and anion is present in the asymmetric unit. The Cu(II) atom in the complex anion, [Cu(HSO4)(SO4)(H2O)4](-), has a tetra-gonal bipyramidal [4 + 2] coordination caused by a Jahn-Teller distortion, with the aqua ligands in equatorial and two O atoms of tetra-hedral HSO4 and SO4 units in apical positions. Both types of ions form sheets parallel to (010). The inter-connection within and between the sheets is reinforced by O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, respectively, involving the water mol-ecules, the two types of sulfate anions and the ammonium groups.

Project description:In a new polymorph of the title salt, [Ni(H2O)6](C6H4NO3)2, the metal atom of the cationic complex lies on a symmetry centre and is coordinated by six water mol-ecules to provide a quite regular octa-hedral coordination environment. These cations inter-act with 6-oxo-1,6-di-hydro-pyridine-3-carboxyl-ate anions through electrostatic inter-actions and by means of O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the carboxyl-ate, keto and protonated imine groups of the anion, and the coordinating water mol-ecules from the cationic complex entity to generate a supra-molecular three-dimensional architecture. The previously reported polymorph of this compound presents a network of hydrogen bonds, in which the organic anions establish mutual hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving their keto and protonated imine groups.

In the crystal, weak N-H?S hydrogen bonds between the amino groups and the thio-cyanate anions form an R 4 (2)(8) motif. The complex mol-ecules are linked by O-H?O, O-H?S, and N-H?S hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure. Weak ?-? inter-actions between the pyridine rings is also found [centroid-centroid distance = 3.8578?(14)?Å].
