ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Rb2(P2S6)(C12H24O6)2]·2CH3CN, contains one half of an [Rb(18-crown-6)2]2[P2S6] unit and one aceto-nitrile solvent mol-ecule. The [Rb(18-crown-6)]2[P2S6] unit is completed by inversion symmetry. Its Rb(+) ion is situated near the centre of the macrocyclic cavity, but is displaced by 0.8972?(1)?Å from the O atoms of the crown in the direction of the [P2S6](2-) moiety. The overall coordination number of the cation is eight, defined by the six crown ether O atoms and by two terminal S atoms of the [P2S6](2-) anion. The hexa-thio-metadiphosphate anion is built up from two tetra-hedral PS4 units joined together by a common edge. The crystal structure is characterized by alternating layers of [Rb(18-crown-6)]2[P2S6] and aceto-nitrile solvent mol-ecules stacked along [010].

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Rb(C(12)H(24)O(6))](3)[Sb(7)]·4NH(3), fills the gap between the already known Zintl anion ammoniates {[Cs(18-crown-6)](3)Sb(7)}(2)·9NH(3) [Wiesler (2007 ▶). Dissertation, Universität Regensburg, Germany] and [K(18-crown-6)](3)Sb(7)·4NH(3) [Hanauer (2007 ▶). Dissertation, Universität Regensburg, Germany]. As in the two known compounds, the anti-mony cage anion in this crystal structure is coordinated by three alkali cations. The coordination spheres of each of the cations are saturated by 18-crown-6 mol-ecules. The ammonia mol-ecules of crystallization are situated between the crown ethers. The neutral, mol-ecular [Rb(18-crown-6)](3)Sb(7) units are inter-connected by multiple dipole-dipole interactions between ammonia and 18-crown-6.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of title salt co-crystal, [K(C9H11N2S2)(C12H24O6)], comprises a K(+) cation, an (-)S2CN(Et)py anion and a 18-crown-6 mol-ecule. Substantial delocalization of ?-electron density is evident in the di-thio-carbamate anion, as indicated by the equivalent C-S bond lengths. The K(+) cation sits within an O6S2 donor set lying 0.7506?(6)?Å out of the least-squares plane through the six O atoms (r.m.s. deviation = 0.1766?Å) of the 18-crown-6 mol-ecule with the two S atoms being on one side of this plane. Supra-molecular layers in the bc plane, sustained by C-H?O and C-H?? inter-actions, feature in the crystal packing.

The thiocyanate anions act as bridging ligands between the Cd(II) ions, leading to a polymeric chain arrangement extending along [001] around a twofold screw axis. The ammonium ions are contained within the bowl of the macrocycle via extensive N-H?O hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The new heterometallic title complex, [Co(NCS)(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(NH(3))(2)][Cr(NCS)(4)(NH(3))(2)]·2CH(3)CN, has been prepared using the open-air reaction of cobalt powder, Reineckes salt and 2,2'-bipyridine (dpy) in acetonitrile. The crystal structure consists of discrete cationic [Co(NCS)(2)(NH(3))(2)(dpy)](+) and anionic [Cr(NCS)(4)(NH(3))(2)](-) building blocks, both with 2 symmetry, and acetonitrile solvent mol-ecules, which are linked together by N-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming extended supra-molecular chains. Furthermore, N-H?S, C-H?S and C-H?N hydrogen bonds inter-link neighbouring chains into a three-dimensional framework. The Co atom is in an elongated octa-hedral coordination environment with two N atoms from the dpy ligands and two NCS-groups in the equatorial plane and with two NH(3) mol-ecules at the axial positions. The Cr(III) ion is octa-hedraly coordinated by two NH(3) mol-ecules at the axial positions and four NCS-groups in the equatorial plane. Intensity statistics indicated non-merohedral twinning with the twin matrix [100; 0[Formula: see text]0; [Formula: see text]0[Formula: see text]]. The refined ratio of the twin components is 0.530?(1):0.470?(1).

Project description:Reaction of Co(NCS)2 or Ni(NCS)2 with pyridine-4-thio-amide in different solvents led to the formation of two compounds with composition [Co(NCS)2(C2H3N)(C6H6N2S)3]·2CH3CN (1) and [Ni(NCS)2(C6H6N2S)4]·5CH3OH (2), respectively. The asymmetric unit of compound 1 consists of one cobalt(II) cation, two thio-cyanate anions, three pyridine-4-thio-amide ligands, one coordinating and two solvate aceto-nitrile mol-ecules. One of the two aceto-nitrile solvate mol-ecules is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.62:0.38 ratio. The asymmetric unit of compound 2 comprises of one nickel(II) cation, two thio-cyanate anions, four N-bonding pyridine-4-thio-amide ligands and five methanol solvate mol-ecules. In compound 1, the cobalt(II) cations are octa-hedrally coordinated into discrete complexes by two terminal N-bonding thio-cyanate anions, the N atoms of three pyridine-4-thio-amide ligands and one aceto-nitrile mol-ecule. Additional aceto-nitrile solvate mol-ecules are located between the complexes,. The complexes and solvate mol-ecules are linked via inter-molecular hydrogen bonding into a three-dimensional framework. In compound 2, the nickel(II) cations are likewise octa-hedrally coordinated by two terminal N-bonded thio-cyanate anions and four N-bonding pyridine-4-thio-amide ligands into discrete complexes. From their arrangement cavities are formed, in which the methanol solvate mol-ecules are located. Again, the complexes and solvate mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional framework by inter-molecular hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The title compound, (NH4)2[Zn(NCS)4]·2C12H24O6·H2O, the result of the reaction of ammonium thio-cyanate, 18-crown-6 and zinc(II) chloride in aqueous solution, exhibits an unusual supra-molecular structure. The Zn atom, two of the thio-cyanate chains and a water mol-ecule, disordered over two positions, lie on a mirror plane. The macrocycle adopts a conformation with approximate D 3d symmetry. The ammonium mol-ecules are contained within the bowl of the macrocycle via extensive N-H?O hydrogen bonds and the complex mol-ecules are linked via N-H?S hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the c-axis direction. The macrocycle is disordered over two positions [refined occupancy ratio = 0.666?(8):0.334?(8)]. The S atoms of two iso-thio-cyanate ligands are disordered within and about the mirror plane.

Project description:Single crystals of the title compound, CaNa(2)(P(2)S(6))·8H(2)O, were obtained by adding calcium hydroxide to an aqueous solution of Na(4)(P(2)S(6))·6H(2)O. The structure is isotypic with that of its strontium analogue and consists of one Ca(2+) cation, two Na(+) cations, one-half of a centrosymmetric (P(2)S(6))(4-) anion with staggered confirmation and four water mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The crystal structure can be described as being built up from layers of cations and anions extending parallel to (101). Within a layer, each CaO(8) polyhedron is connected via edge-sharing to two NaO(4)S(2) octa-hedra and to one NaO(2)S(4) octa-edron. The NaO(4)S(2) octa-hedra are, in turn, linked with two (P(2)S(6))(4-) anions through common corners. Various O-H?S hydrogen-bonding inter-actions lead to cohesion of adjacent layers. The Ca(2+) and one Na(+) cation are situated on a twofold rotation axis and the second Na(+) cation is situated on an inversion centre.
