ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C36H32N2 (2+)·2C6H4ClO3S(-), consists of one anion and one half-cation, the other half being generated by inversion symmetry. The dihedral angle between the pyridinium ring and the napthalene ring system in the asymmetric unit is 42.86?(6)°. In the crystal, cations and anions are linked by weak C-H?O inter-actions into chains along [010]. Adjacent chains are further arranged in an anti-parallel manner into sheets parallel to the bc plane. ?-? inter-actions are observed involving the cations, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.7664?(8) and 3.8553?(8)?Å.

In the crystal, the cations and the anions are linked by C-H?I inter-actions into a layer parallel to the bc plane. Project description:In the title compound, 1.5C(18)H(16)N(+)·0.25C(36)H(32)N(2) (2+)·2C(6)H(6)NO(3)S(-)·2H(2)O, the monocation exists in the E configuration with respect to the ethenyl C=C double bond and is almost planar, the dihedral angles between the pyridinium and the fused six-membered rings being 3.1?(7) and 3.8?(8)°. The dication lies about an inversion centre. In the crystal, the dication occupies almost the same site occupied by monocations at (x, y, z) and (-x, 1?-?y, 1?-?z). The anions and water mol-ecules are linked into a chain along the a axis by O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds. The structure is further stabilized by C-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? inter-actions between pyridinium and benzene rings, with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.516?(9)-3.553?(8)?Å. The crystal is a twin with twin law, TWIN 0 0 0 0 1 0 1. The monocation and dication are disordered with fractional site occupancy ratio of 0.75:0.25.

The 4-chorobenzenesulfon-ate anion is also disordered over two orientations in a 0.503?(6):0.497?(6) ratio. The cations are close to planar, the dihedral angles between the pyridinium and indole rings being 1.48?(3)° in the ordered cation, and 5.62?(3) and 2.45?(3)°, respectively, for the major and minor components of the disordered cation. In the crystal, the cations are stacked in an anti-parallel manner approximately along the a-axis direction and linked with the anions via N-H?O hydrogen bonds and C-H?O inter-actions, generating a three-dimensional network. Weak C-H?? and ?-? inter-actions [with centroid-centroid distances of 3.561?(2)-3.969?(7)?Å] are also observed.

Project description:In the title compound, 2C(16)H(15)N(2) (+)·C(6)H(4)FO(3)S(-)·NO(3) (-)·0.25H(2)O, the two cations are nearly planar, with dihedral angles of 1.34?(14) and 4.6?(2)°, respectively, between the pyridinium and indole rings. The cations each adopt E configurations with respect to the C=C bonds and are inclined to each other with a dihedral angle of 77.66?(5)°. The ethenyl group of one cation is disordered over two sites with occupancies of 0.685?(12) and 0.315?(12), and the sulfonate group of the 4-fluoro-benzene-sulfonate anion is also disordered with occupancies of 0.535?(10) and 0.465?(10) for the two sets of O atoms. The anion is also inclined to the two cations, with dihedral angles between the mean planes of the benzene ring and the ?-conjugated systems of the cations of 24.72?(11) and 79.83?(11)°. In the crystal structure, the cations are stacked in an anti-parallel fashion into columns approximately along the a axis and are further linked through the anions into a three-dimensional network via N-H?O and C-H?O inter-actions. Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(24)H(14)N(4)O(2), lies on an inversion centre and the asymmetric unit containg one half-mol-ecule. The naphthalene ring systems are twisted slightly with respect to the oxadiazole rings, making a dihedral angle of 1.36?(6)°. The central pyridine rings of the terpyridyl units and the diether chain are co-planar: the maximum deviation from the 18-atom mean plane defined by the bridging unit and the central pyridyl ring is for the pyridyl N atom which sits 0.055?(1)?Å above the plane. The dihedral angles between the terminal pyridine rings with this plane are 10.3?(1) and 37.6?(1)°, repectively. In the crystal, weak C-H?N inter-actions link the mol-ecules into infinite chains parallel to the a axis.
