Aminoglycosides are potent, broad spectrum, ribosome-targeting antibacterials whose clinical efficacy is seriously threatened by multiple resistance mechanisms. Here, we report the structural basis for 30S recognition by the novel plasmid-mediated aminoglycoside-resistance rRNA methyltransferase A (NpmA).
