Multiple myeloma is the most frequent indication for high-dose melphalan (HDM) chemotherapy with autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT). Gastrointestinal symptoms represent the most significant nonhematological toxicity of HDM. However, specific, especially genetic, predictors of their incidence or clinical severity are lacking.
