Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) has been a useful initial diagnostic tool in the evaluation of pulmonary complications after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT); however, the diagnostic sensitivity, prevalence, and outcome after BAL versus lung biopsy (LB) in pediatric HSCT patients remains to be determined.
