Crystal structure of chlorido-(piperidine-?N)(quinoline-2-carboxyl-ato-?(2) N,O)platinum(II).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Pt(C10H6NO2)Cl(C5H11N)], crystallizes with one mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. The Pt(II) cation has a slightly distorted square-planar coordination environment defined by a chloride anion, the quinoline N atom and a carboxyl-ate O atom of the bidentate quinaldate ligand and a piperidine N atom. An intra-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, mol-ecules are stacked into columns along the c axis by the formation of N-H?Cl and C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title complex, [Pt(C(6)H(4)NO(2))Cl(C(2)H(6)OS)], the Pt(II) ion is in a distorted square-planar environment defined by the N and O atoms from the chelating pyridine-2-carboxyl-ate (pic) anionic ligand, one S atom of the dimethyl sulfoxide mol-ecule and one Cl ion. The complex is disposed about a crystallographic mirror plane parallel to the ac plane passing through all the atoms of the complex except the methyl atoms of the dimethyl sulfoxide. The mol-ecules are stacked in columns along the b axis with a Pt?Pt distance of 4.9508?(5)?Å. Within the column, inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak ?-? inter-actions between adjacent pyridine rings are present, the shortest centroid-centroid distance being 5.153?(4)?Å.

Project description:In the title complex, [PtCl2(C5H11N)(C6H6N2O2)], the Pt(II) metal atom displays a slightly distorted trans-PtN2Cl2 square-planar coordination geometry. The dihedral angle between the mean plane of the benzene and piperidine rings is 89.03?(3)°. In the crystal structure, inversion dimers are formed via N-H?Cl hydrogen-bond inter-actions, resulting in chains parallel to the [001] direction. The benzene rings within the chains show ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-to-centroid distances of 3.801?(3)?Å] and neighbouring chains inter-act via N-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Crystal structure of a chloride-bridged copper(II) dimer: piperazine-1,4-dium bis-(di-?-chlorido-bis[(4-carboxypyridine-2-carboxyl-ato-?2N,O2)chlorido-cuprate(II)].

Project description:Crystals of a new dimeric chloride-bridged cuprate(II) derived from pyridine-2,4-di-carb-oxy-lic acid were obtained solvothermally in the presence of piperazine and hydro-chloric acid. The crystal structure determination of the title salt, (C4H12N2)[Cu2(C7H4NO4)2Cl4], revealed one of the carboxyl groups of the original pyridine-2,4-di-carb-oxy-lic acid ligand to be protonated, whereas the other is deprotonated and binds together with the pyridine N atom to the CuII atom. The coordination environment of the CuII atom is distorted square-pyramidal. One of the chloride ligands bridges two metal cations to form a centrosymmetric dimer with two different Cu-Cl distances of 2.2632?(8) and 2.7853?(8)?Å, whereby the longer distance is associated with the apical ligand. The remaining chloride ligand is terminal at one of the basal positions, with a distance of 2.2272?(9)?Å. In the crystal, the dimers are linked by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds, together with N-H?O and N-H?Cl inter-actions involving the centrosymmetric organic cation, into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network. Further but weaker C-H?O and C-H?Cl inter-actions consolidate the packing.

Project description:The Pb(II) atom in the title compound, [Pb(C(10)H(6)NO(2))(2)], is N,O-chelated by two quinoline-2-carboxyl-ate anions in a distorted ?-trigonal-bipyramidal environment; four atoms are connected to the Pb(II) atom by regular coordination bonds. The structure also features two somewhat long Pb?O inter-actions [2.952?(3) and 3.014?(3)?Å]. These long inter-actions give rise to a layer coordination polymer having the lead atom in a distorted ?-monocapped octa-hedral geometry.

Project description:The crystal structures of di-chlorido-palladium(II), -platinum(II) and -rhodium(III) complexes containing 8-(di-phenyl-phosphan-yl)quinoline, (SP-4)-[PdCl2(C21H16NP)], (1) [systematic name: di-chlor-ido-(8-di-phenyl-phosphanyl-quinoline)-palladium(II)], (SP-4)-[PtCl2(C21H16NP)]·CH2Cl2, (2) [systematic name: di-chlorido-(8-di-phenyl-phos-phanyl-quinoline)-platinum(II) dichlorometh-ane monosolvate], and (OC-6-32)-[RhCl2(C21H16NP)2]PF6·0.5CH2Cl2·0.5CH3OH, (3) [systematic name: cis-di-chlor-ido-bis-(8-di-phenyl-phosphanyl-quinoline)-rhodium(III) hexa-fluorido-phos-phate di-chloro-methane/-methanol hemisolvate] are reported. In these complexes, the phosphanyl-quinoline acts as a bidentate ligand, forming a planar asymmetrical five-membered chelate ring. The palladium(II) and platinum(II) complex mol-ecules in (1) and (2), respectively, show a typical square-planar coordination geometry and form a dimeric structure through an inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-action between the quinolyl rings. The centroid-centroid distances between the stacked six-membered rings in (1) and (2) are 3.633?(2) and 3.644?(2)?Å, respectively. The cationic rhodium(III) complex in (3) has a cis(Cl),cis(P),cis(N) (OC-6-32) configuration of the ligands, in which two kinds of intra-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions are observed: between the quinolyl and phenyl rings and between two phenyl rings, the centroid-centroid distances being 3.458?(2) and 3.717?(2)?Å, respectively. The PF6 (-) anion in (3) is rotationally disordered, the site occupancies of each F atom being 0.613?(14) and 0.387?(14). The CH2Cl2 and CH3OH solvent mol-ecules are also disordered and equal site occupancies of 0.5 are assumed.

Project description:There are few reports that describe crystal structures of compounds containing cobalt complexed to either dimethyl sulfoxide (Me2SO) or quinoline (C9H7N). The title compound, [Co(C2H6OS)6][CoCl3(C9H7N)]2, is a cobalt salt in which the metal ion is complexed to both Me2SO and quinoline. In particular, we observed that anhydrous cobalt(II) chloride reacts with quinoline in Me2SO to form a salt that is to be formulated as [CoII(Me2SO)6]2+{[CoIICl3quinoline]2-}. The CoII atom in the cation portion of this mol-ecule lies on a inversion center and is bound to the O atoms of six Me2SO moieties in an octa-hedral configuration, while the CoII atom in the anion is attached to three chloride ligands and one quinoline moiety in a tetra-hedral arrangement.
