ABSTRACT: The title compound, C16H14N4, is non-planar with dihedral angles between the planes of the imidazole and phenyl-enedi-amine rings of 30.66?(4)° and between the planes of the phenyl-enedi-amine and N-phenyl rings of 56.63?(7)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected by N-H?N hydrogen bonds, generating a chain extending along the b-axis direction. The crystal structure is also stabilized by C-H?? inter-actions between N-phenyl and imidazole rings and slipped ?-? stacking inter-actions between imidazole rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.516?(4)?Å] giving an overall two-dimensional layered structure lying parallel to (010).

Project description:The title coordination polymer, {[Cd(C8H4O4)(C14H14N4)]·C3H7NO} n , was synthesized by solvothermal reaction of metallic cadmium with the semi-rigid neutral ligand 1,4-bis-[(1H-imidazol-1-yl)meth-yl]benzene (bix) and the V-shaped benzene-1,3-di-carb-oxy-lic acid (m-H2bdc). The structure exhibits a pseudo-C-centring which is almost fulfilled by the polymeric metal complex but not by the solvent dimethylform-amide (DMF) mol-ecules. The asymmetric unit contains two independent Cd(II) ions, two m-bdc(2-) ligands, one and two half bix ligands, and two solvent DMF mol-ecules. The Cd(II) ions are both five-coordinated by three O atoms from two different m-bdc(2-) ligands and two N atoms from two different bix ligands in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The m-bdc(2-) ligands adopt a chelate-monodentate coordination mode, connecting neighboring Cd(II) ions into a zigzag chain parallel to [110]. Adjacent chains are further cross-linked by bix ligands, giving rise to a puckered sheet nearly perpendicular to the chain direction. Thus, each Cd(II) ion is connected to four neighboring Cd(II) ions through two m-bdc(2-) anions and two bix ligands, giving rise to the final non-inter-penetrating uninodal layer with sql (4,4) topology.

Project description:The title compound, C15H18NO3PS·C6H6, is a rare example of a crystallographically characterized exocyclic phosphiniminium-arene-sulfonate zwitterion, which crystallises as its benzene solvate. The crystal structure shows that the N atom is protonated and that the iminium H atom forms both intra- and inter-molecular hydrogen bonds to the single-bonded sulfonate O atom in an R 2 (2)(4) graph-set motif. Project description:The whole mol-ecule of the title complex, [Hg2Cl4(C18H15N3)2], is generated by inversion symmetry. It was synthesized from the pyridine-derived Schiff base N-phenyl-N'-[(pyridin-2-yl)methyl-idene]benzene-1,4-di-amine (PPMBD). The five-coordinated Hg(2+) ions have a distorted square-pyramidal environment defined by two N atoms, viz. the imine and the other pyridyl [Hg-N = 2.467 (6) and 2.310 (6) Å, respectively] belonging to the bidentate imino-pyridine ligand, and three Cl atoms [Hg-Cl = 2.407 (2), 2.447 (2) and 3.031 (2) Å]. The longest Hg-Cl bond is bridging about the inversion centre. In the ligand, the central ring and pyridine ring are oriented at a dihedral angle of 8.1 (4)°, while the planes of the pyridine ring and the terminal phenyl ring are oriented at a dihedral angle of 53.8 (4)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming sheets parallel to (001).

Each pda(2-) anion acts as a μ(3)-bridge, linking Cd(II) atoms to form one-dimensional slabs extending parallel to [010]. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked through N-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network.
