Crystal structure of ammonium divanadium(IV,V) tellurium(IV) hepta-oxide.

ABSTRACT: The polyhedral building blocks of the layered inorganic network in the mixed-valence title compound, (NH4)(V(IV)O2)(V(V)O2)(TeO3), are vertex-sharing V(V)O4 tetra-hedra, distorted V(IV)O6 octa-hedra and TeO3 pyramids, which are linked by V-O-V and V-O-Te bonds, forming double layers lying parallel to (100). The presumed Te(IV) lone-pairs of electrons appear to be directed inwards into cavities in the double layers. The charge-balancing ammonium cations lie between the layers and probably inter-act with them via N-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, (CH6N3)7H9[PtMo6O24]2·7H2O, containing the well-known Anderson-type heteropolyoxomolybdate, was obtained by recrystallization of its powdered guanidinium salt. The protonated O atoms in the polyanion were confirmed by electron-density maps, inter-polyanion hydrogen bonds and bond-valance sums (BVS). The {[H4.5PtMo6O24]2}(7-) polyanion is the same as that already characterized in K7[H4.5PtMo6O24]2·11H2O [space group P-1; Lee & Joo (2010 ▶). Acta Cryst. E66, i8-i9]. The heteropolyanions form inversion-generated dimers, {[H4.5PtMo6O24]2}(7-), held together by each of the four μ3-O-H⋯μ1-O, two μ2-O-H⋯μ2-O hydrogen bonds and one centrosymmetric μ3-O-H-μ3-O hydrogen bond. The H atom of the centrosymmetric hydrogen bond is located on an inversion centre. One guanidinium ion and one water mol-ecule are equally disordered about a twofold rotation axis.

Crystal structure of tetra-methyl-ammonium 1,1,7,7-tetra-cyano-hepta-2,4,6-trienide.

Project description:The title compound, C4H12N+·C11H5N4 -, contains one tetra-methyl-ammonium cation and one 1,1,7,7-tetra-cyano-hepta-2,4,6-trienide anion in the asymmetric unit. The anion is in an all-trans conjugated C=C bonds conformation. Two terminal C(CN)2 di-nitrile moieties are slightly twisted from the polymethine main chain to which they are attached [C(CN)2/C5 dihedral angles = 6.1?(2) and 7.1?(1)°]. The C-C bond distances along the hepta-dienyl chain vary in the narrow range 1.382?(2)-1.394?(2)?Å, thus indicating the significant degree of conjugation. In the crystal, the anions are linked into zigzag chains along the [10] direction by C-H?N(nitrile) short contacts. The anti-parallel chains stack along the [110] direction with alternating separations between the neighboring anions in stacks of 3.291 and 3.504?Å. The C-H?N short contacts and stacking inter-actions combine to link the anions into layers parallel to the (01) plane and separated by columns of tetra-methyl-ammonium cations.

Crystal structure of bis-(cyclo-hexyl-ammonium) di-phenyl-dioxalatostannate(IV).

Project description:Reaction of oxalic acid and di-phenyl-tin dichloride in the presence of cyclo-hexyl-amine led to the formation of the title salt, (C6H14N)2[Sn(C6H5)2(C2O4)2]. The dianion is made up from an Sn(C6H5)2 moiety cis-coordinated by two chelating oxalate anions, leading to an overall distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry of the Sn(IV) atom. The negative charges are compensated by two surrounding cyclo-hexyl-ammonium cations adopting chair conformations each. In the crystal, anions and cations are linked via a network of N-H?O hydrogen bonds into a layered arrangement parallel to (101).

Benzyl-ammonium hepta-noate.

Project description:The title 1:1 stoichiometric salt, C7H10N(+)·C7H13O2 (-), is formed by proton transfer between hepta-noic acid and benzyl-amine. This combination contrasts to the recently published 2:1 acid-amine adduct of cation, anion and neutral acid molecule from the same components [Wood & Clarke (2013 ?). Acta Cryst. E69, o346-o347]. There are N-H?O hydrogen bonds of moderate strength in the structure [the most important graph-set motifs are R (2) 4(8) and R (4) 4(12)], as well as weak C-H?O inter-actions.

Diterbium hepta-nickel: a crystal structure redetermination.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, Tb2Ni7, was redetermined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. In comparison with previous studies based on powder X-ray diffraction data [Lemaire et al. (1967). C. R. Acad. Sci. Ser. B, 265, 1280-1282; Lemaire & Paccard (1969). Bull. Soc. Fr. Mineral. Cristallogr. 92, 9-16; Buschow & van der Goot (1970). J. Less-Common Met. 22, 419-428], the present redetermination affords refined coordinates and anisotropic displacement parameters for all atoms. A partial occupation for one Tb atom results in the non-stoichiometric composition Tb1.962?(4)Ni7. The title compound adopts the Ce2Ni7 structure type and can also be derived from the CaCu5 structure type as an inter-growth structure. The asymmetric unit contains two Tb sites (both site symmetries 3m.) and five Ni sites (.m., mm2, 3m., 3m., -3m.). The two different coordination polyhedra of Tb are a Frank-Kasper polyhedron formed by four Tb and 12 Ni atoms and a pseudo Frank-Kasper polyhedron formed by two Tb and 18 Ni atoms. The four different coordination polyhedra of Ni are Frank-Kasper icosa-hedra formed by five Tb and seven Ni atoms, four Tb and eight Ni atoms, three Tb and nine Ni atoms, and six Tb and six Ni atoms, respectively.

Synthesis and crystal structure of tri-ethyl-ammonium hexa-bromido-uranate(IV) di-chloro-methane monosolvate.

Project description:Tri-ethyl-ammonium hexa-bromido-uranate(IV) di-chloro-methane monosolvate, [(C2H5)3NH]2[UBr6]·CH2Cl2, was obtained in the form of dark-brown crystals from the reaction of uranium penta-bromide with NEt3 and ethyl-ene glycol in di-chloro-methane at low temperature. During the progress of the reaction, the reduction of uranium(V) to uranium(IV) was observed, whose associated oxidation product could not be identified. The uranium atom of the [UBr6]2- anion is coordinated by six bromido ligands in the shape of an octa-hedron. Between cations, anion and solvent mol-ecules of crystallization, numerous C-H⋯Hal hydrogen-bond-like inter-actions are present, leading to a three-dimensional network structure.

B31 289-290]. The asymmetric unit consists of one discrete tetra-chlorido-cuprate anion with a distorted tetra-hedral geometry and two tetra-methyl-ammonium cations. In the crystal, the cations and the anions are linked via weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds.

Crystal structure of tris-(hydroxyl-ammonium) orthophosphate.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title salt, ([H3NOH](+))3·[PO4](3-), consists of discrete hydroxyl-ammonium cations and ortho-phos-phate anions. The atoms of the cation occupy general positions, whereas the anion is located on a threefold rotation axis that runs through the phospho-rus atom and one of the phosphate O atoms. In the crystal structure, cations and anions are linked by inter-molecular O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network. Altogether, one very strong O-H?O, two N-H?O hydrogen bonds of medium strength and two weaker bifurcated N-H?O inter-actions are observed.

Project description:In the title molecular salt, C12H14N3 (+)·NH4 (+)·2Cl(-), the central, secondary-amine, N atom is protonated. The bis-[(pyridin-2-yl)meth-yl]ammonium and ammonium cations both lie across a twofold rotation axis. The dihedral angles between the planes of the pyridine rings is 68.43 (8)°. In the crystal, N-H⋯N and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the components of the structure, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to (010). In addition, weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds exist within the two-dimensional network.

Crystal structure of the deuterated hepta-hydrate of potassium phosphate, K3PO4·7D2O.

Project description:Deuterated potassium orthophosphate hepta-hydrate, K3PO4·7D2O, crystallizes in the Sohnke space group P21, and its absolute structure was determined from 2017 Friedel pairs [Flack parameter 0.004 (16)]. Each of the three crystallographically unique K+ cations is surrounded by six water mol-ecules and one oxygen atom from the orthophosphate group, using a threshold for K-O bonds of 3.10 Å. The highly irregular coordination polyhedra are linked by corner- and edge-sharing into a three-dimensional network that is consolidated by an intricate network of O-D⋯O hydrogen bonds of medium strength.
