Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(10)Cl(2)O, is a chalcone with 3-chloro-phenyl and 4-chloro-phenyl substituents bonded at the opposite ends of a propenone group, the biologically active region. The dihedral angle between mean planes of these two chloro-substituted benzene rings is 46.7?(7)° compared to 46.0?(1) and 32.4?(1)° in similar published sructures. The angles between the mean plane of the prop-2-en-1-one group and the mean planes of the 3-chloro-phenyl and 4-chloro-phenyl rings are 24.1?(2) and 29.63°, respectively. While no classical hydrogen bonds are present, weak inter-molecular C-H??-ring inter-actions are observed, which contribute to the stability of crystal packing.

The dihedral angles between the mean plane of the prop-2-en-1-one group and the mean planes of the benzene rings in the 4-chloro-phenyl and 2-bromo-phenyl rings are 14.9 (3) and 63.3 (8)°, respectively. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of weak C-H⋯O interactions are observed as well as aromatic π-π stacking inter-actions.

The nitro group makes a dihedral angle of 12.5 (3)° with the benzene ring to which it is attached. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯O inter-actions link the mol-ecules into a one-dimensional array along [010]. Project description:In the crystal of compound (I), C14H11ClOS, mol-ecules are linked by C-H?O hydrogen bonds to form simple C(5) chains. Compound (II), C26H22O, crystallizes with Z' = 2 in space group P-1; one of the mol-ecules is fully ordered but the other is disordered over two sets of atomic sites having occupancies 0.644?(3) and 0.356?(3). The two disordered components differ from one another in the orientation of the isopropyl substituents, and both differ from the ordered mol-ecules in the arrangement of the central propenone spacer unit, so that the crystal of (II) contains three distinct conformers. The ordered and disordered conformers each form a C(8) chain built from a single type of C-H?O hydrogen bond but those formed by the disordered conformers differ from that formed by the ordered form.

In the crystal structure, inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into centrosymmetric R(2) (2)(10) dimers. There are C-H⋯π inter-actions between benzene and pyrrole rings and a benzene C-H group. A weak π-π inter-action between the pyrrole rings [centroid-centroid distance 3.8515 (11) Å] further stabilizes the structure. The mol-ecule is non-planar, with a dihedral angle of 31.12?(5)° between the chloro-thio-phene and dimeth-oxy-phenyl rings. The meth-oxy group at position 3 is coplanar with the benzene ring to which it is attached, with a C-O-C-C torsion angle of -3.8?(3)°. The meth-oxy group attached at position 2 of the benzene ring is in a (+)synclinal conformation, as indicated by the C-O-C-C torsion angle of -73.6?(2)°. In the crystal, two different C-H?O inter-molecular inter-actions generate chains of mol-ecules extending along the b axis.
