Crystal structure of poly[{?-N,N'-bis[(pyridin-4-yl)meth-yl]oxalamide}-?-oxalato-cobalt(II)].

ABSTRACT: In the polymeric title compound, [Co(C2O4)(C14H14N4O2)] n , the Co(II) atom is six-coordinated by two N atoms from symmetry-related bis-[(pyridin-4-yl)meth-yl]oxalamide (BPMO) ligands and four O atoms from two centrosymmetric oxalate anions in a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The Co(II) atoms are linked by the oxalate anions into a chain running parallel to [100]. The chains are linked by the BPMO ligands into a three-dimensional architecture. In addition, N-H?O hydrogen bonds stabilize the crystal packing.

Distinct coordination modes are found for the bridging ligands, i.e., a ?(2),?(2)-bridging mode involving pyridine N atoms for one ligand, and a ?(2),?(4)-bridging mode, employing both pyridine N and amide O atoms for the remaining ligands. The Ag(+) cations, which are in a distorted square-pyramidal coordination, and the ligands combine to form a two-dimensional array parallel to (101); these arrays are connected into a three-dimensional structure by trifluoro-methane-sulfonate anions via N-H?O, C-H?O, and C-F?O inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, [HgCl(2)(C(18)H(16)N(2)O(2))](n), the Hg(II) atom is four-coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral environment defined by two Cl atoms and two N atoms from two 1,4-bis-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-oxy)benzene ligands. Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Co(NCS)(2)(C(12)H(10)N(2))(2)]·C(12)H(10)N(2), the Co(II) cations are octa-hedrally coordinated by two terminally N-bonded thio-cyanate anions and four 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethene (bpe) ligands. The asymmetric unit consists of three crystallographically independent Co(II) cations, six thio-cyanate anions and six coordinating bpe ligands in general positions. Additionally, three non-coordin-ating bpe ligands are present in the asymmetric unit with two of them located on a center of inversion. The Co(II) cations are connected by the bpe ligands into layers parallel to the bc plane. The crystal investigated was non-merohedrically twinned, with a fractional contribution of 0.261?(2) for the minor domain.

Project description:The reaction of Co(NCS)2 with 3-(amino-meth-yl)pyridine as coligand leads to the formation of crystals of the title compound, [Co(NCS)2(C6H8N2)2] n , that were characterized by single-crystal X-ray analysis. In the crystal structure, the CoII cations are octa-hedrally coordinated by two terminal N-bonded thio-cyanate anions as well as two pyridine and two amino N atoms of four symmetry-equivalent 3-(amino-meth-yl)pyridine coligands with all pairs of equivalent atoms in a trans position. The CoII cations are linked by the 3-(amino-meth-yl)pyridine coligands into layers parallel to the ac plane. These layers are further linked by inter-molecular N-H⋯S hydrogen bonding into a three-dimensional network. The purity of the title compound was determined by X-ray powder diffraction and its thermal behavior was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry.

Project description:In the title molecular salt, C12H14N3 (+)·NH4 (+)·2Cl(-), the central, secondary-amine, N atom is protonated. The bis-[(pyridin-2-yl)meth-yl]ammonium and ammonium cations both lie across a twofold rotation axis. The dihedral angles between the planes of the pyridine rings is 68.43 (8)°. In the crystal, N-H⋯N and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the components of the structure, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to (010). In addition, weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds exist within the two-dimensional network.
