Crystal structure of poly[[trans-di-aqua-bis-[?2-trans-4,4'-(diazenedi-yl)dipyridine]-nickel(II)] diiodide ethanol disolvate].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, {[Ni(C10H8N4)2(H2O)2]I2·2C2H5OH} n , the complex shows an octa-hedral environment of the Ni(2+) cation in which it is located on a centre of symmetry, linked to two water mol-ecules and the pyridine-N atoms of four 4,4'-(diazenediyl)dipyridine ligands bridging Ni(2+) cations along the b- and c-axis directions, giving rise to a two-dimensional arrangement. The Ni-N bond lengths are in the range 2.109?(4)-2.186?(3)?Å and the Ni-O bond length is 2.080?(3)?Å. The 4,4'-(diazenedi-yl)dipyridine ligand lies on an inversion centre. An O-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-action is observed between water and ethanol mol-ecules. The I(-) ions can be regarded as free anions in the crystal lattice.

Project description:The asymetric unit of the title compound, [NiCl(2)(C(5)H(5)N)(2)](n), contains two Ni(II) ions located on different twofold rotational axes, two chloride anions and two pyridine rings in general positions. Each Ni(II) ion is coordinated by two pyridine rings, which form dihedral angles of 33.0?(2) and 11.0?(2)° for the two centers, and four chloride anions in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The chloride anions bridge Ni(II) ions related by translation along the short b axes into two crystallographically independent polymeric chains.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(C(4)H(2)O(4))(C(5)H(5)N)(2)(H(2)O)](n), is a one-dimensional coordination polymer based on pyridine and fumarate ligands. Each Cu(II) cation is coordinated by two carboxyl-ate O atoms belonging to two fumarate anions, two N atoms from two pyridine mol-ecules and one water mol-ecule, in a square-based pyramidal geometry. Each fumarate anion bridges two Cu(II) cations through the two carboxyl-ate groups in a bis-monodentate fashion to form a one-dimensional polymeric chain along the c axis. Neighbouring chains are linked together to form a two-dimensional network parallel to the ac plane via hydrogen bonding inter-actions between uncoordinated carboxyl-ate O atoms and coordinated water mol-ecules of adjecent chains.

Project description:In each of the two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ni(C(13)H(18)NO(4)S)(2)(C(5)H(5)N)(2)(H(2)O)], the geometry of the Ni(2+) ion is an extremely distorted trans-NiN(2)O(4) octa-hedron, arising from its coordination by one water mol-ecule, two pyridine mol-ecules, and one O-monodentate and one O,O'-bidentate deprotonated N-p-tolysulfonyl-l-leucine ligand. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the c axis. An intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond occurs in one of the mol-ecules.

Project description:In the title polymeric complex, {[FePt(CN)4(H2O)2]·2C3H6O} n , the FeII cation has an octa-hedral [FeN4O2] geometry being coordinated by two water mol-ecules and four cyanide anions. The Pt cation is located on an inversion centre and has a square-planar coordination environment formed by four cyanide groups. The tetra-cyano-platinate anions bridge the FeII cations to form infinite two-dimensional layers that propagate in the bc plane. The stilbene ligand lies on an inversion centre at the midpoint of the central C=C bond. This feature generates the polymeric structure: adjacent Cd(II) ions are bridged by trans-stilbene-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate dianions, giving rise to a one-dimensional structure. The coordinated water mol-ecule is involved in interchain O-H?O hydrogen bonds.
