ABSTRACT: A novel class of tartaric acid-derived N-spiro quaternary ammonium salts was synthesised starting from known TADDOLs. These compounds were found to catalyse the asymmetric ?-alkylation of glycine Schiff bases with high enantioselectivities and in good yields.
