Crystal structure of tin(IV) chloride octa-hydrate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [SnCl4(H2O)2]·6H2O, was crystallized according to the solid-liquid phase diagram at lower temperatures. It is built-up of SnCl4(H2O)2 octa-hedral units (point group symmetry 2) and lattice water mol-ecules. An intricate three-dimensional network of O-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds between the complex molecules and the lattice water molecules is formed in the crystal structure.

Project description:Single crystals of the title compound, CaNa(2)(P(2)S(6))·8H(2)O, were obtained by adding calcium hydroxide to an aqueous solution of Na(4)(P(2)S(6))·6H(2)O. The structure is isotypic with that of its strontium analogue and consists of one Ca(2+) cation, two Na(+) cations, one-half of a centrosymmetric (P(2)S(6))(4-) anion with staggered confirmation and four water mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The crystal structure can be described as being built up from layers of cations and anions extending parallel to (101). Within a layer, each CaO(8) polyhedron is connected via edge-sharing to two NaO(4)S(2) octa-hedra and to one NaO(2)S(4) octa-edron. The NaO(4)S(2) octa-hedra are, in turn, linked with two (P(2)S(6))(4-) anions through common corners. Various O-H?S hydrogen-bonding inter-actions lead to cohesion of adjacent layers. The Ca(2+) and one Na(+) cation are situated on a twofold rotation axis and the second Na(+) cation is situated on an inversion centre.

Project description:The title compounds, [Sn3(CH3)9(OH)2(H2O)2][Sn(CH3)3(CHO2)2] (1) and [Sn3(CH3)9(OH)2]Cl·H2O (2), are partially condensed products of hydrolysed tri-methyl-tin chloride. In the structures of 1 and 2, short cationic tris-tannatoxanes (C9H29O2Sn3) are bridged by a diformatotri-methyl-tin anion or a chloride anion, respectively. Hydrogen bridges are present and supposedly stabilize these structures against further polymerization to the known polymeric tri-methyl-tin hydroxide. Especially noteworthy is that the formate present in this structure was formed from atmospheric CO2.

Crystal structure of catena-poly[[aquadi-n-propyl-tin(IV)]-?-oxalato].

Project description:The title compound, [Sn(C3H7)2(H2O)(C2O4)] n , represents the first diorganotin(IV) oxalate hydrate to be structurally characterized. The tin(IV) atom of the one-dimensional coordination polymer is located on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated by two chelating oxalate ligands with two slightly different Sn-O bond lengths of 2.290?(2) and 2.365?(2)?Å, two symmetry-related n-propyl groups with a Sn-C bond lengths of 2.127?(3)?Å, and a water mol-ecule with a Sn-O bond length of 2.262?(2)?Å. The coordination polyhedron around the Sn(IV) atom is a slightly distorted penta-gonal bipyramid with a nearly linear axis between the trans-oriented n-propyl groups [C-Sn-C = 176.8?(1)°]. The bond angles between the oxygen atoms of the equatorial plane range from 70.48?(6)° to 76.12?(8)°. A one-dimensional coordination polymer results from the less asymmetric bilateral coordination of the centrosymmetric oxalate anion, inter-nally reflected by two slightly different C-O bond lengths of 1.248?(3) and 1.254?(3)?Å. The chains of the polymer propagate parallel to [001] and are held together by hydrogen bonds between water mol-ecules and oxalate anions of neighboring chains, leading to a two-dimensional network parallel to (100).

Project description:In the title salt, [Sn(CH(3))(2)Cl(CH(4)N(3)S)]Cl, the Sn(IV) atom is five-coordinated in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry with two methyl groups and one S atom in the equatorial plane, and one N atom and one Cl atom occupying the apical positions. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular N-H?S hydrogen bonds with set graph-motif C(4) along [010]. N-H? Cl hydrogen bonds with graph-set motif D(2) and D(3) (3)(10) link cations and anions.

The asymmetric unit consists of one Sr(2+) cation (2 symmetry), two Na(+) cations (2 and symmetry, respectively), one-half of a centrosymmetric (P(2)S(6))(4-) anion with a staggered confirmation and four water mol-ecules. The two independent tin atoms show distorted trigonal-bipyramidal SnC(2)O(3) and SnC(2)O(2)Br coordination geometries.

Project description:The title compound, (CH6N3)7H9[PtMo6O24]2·7H2O, containing the well-known Anderson-type heteropolyoxomolybdate, was obtained by recrystallization of its powdered guanidinium salt. The protonated O atoms in the polyanion were confirmed by electron-density maps, inter-polyanion hydrogen bonds and bond-valance sums (BVS). The {[H4.5PtMo6O24]2}(7-) polyanion is the same as that already characterized in K7[H4.5PtMo6O24]2·11H2O [space group P-1; Lee & Joo (2010 ▶). Acta Cryst. E66, i8-i9]. The heteropolyanions form inversion-generated dimers, {[H4.5PtMo6O24]2}(7-), held together by each of the four μ3-O-H⋯μ1-O, two μ2-O-H⋯μ2-O hydrogen bonds and one centrosymmetric μ3-O-H-μ3-O hydrogen bond. The H atom of the centrosymmetric hydrogen bond is located on an inversion centre. One guanidinium ion and one water mol-ecule are equally disordered about a twofold rotation axis.

Project description:The title compound, K5[H2PtV9O28]·9H2O, containing the nona-vanado-platinate(IV) polyanion, was obtained by hydro-thermal reaction at pH = 4.2. The polyanion has approximate mm2 (C 2v ) symmetry. The two platinum-bound μ2-O atoms are protonated in the polyanion. The heteropolyanions form inversion-generated dimers, {[H2PtV9O28]2}(10-), held together by μ2-O-H⋯μ2-O and μ2-O-H⋯μ3-O hydrogen bonds. All K(+) cations are located on general positions of the space group P-1.

Redetermination of the crystal structure of 3,5-di-methyl-pyrazolium ?-octa-molybdate tetra-hydrate.

Project description:The title compound, (C5H9N2)4[Mo8O26]·4H2O, was reported previously from a room-temperature data collection from which only the metal atoms could be refined anisotropically [FitzRoy et al. (1989 ?). Inorg. Chim. Acta, 157, 187-194]. The current redetermination at 180?(2)?K models all the non-H atoms with anisotropic displacement parameters and fully describes the supra-molecular N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen-bonded network connecting the 3,5-di-methyl-pyrazolium cations, the water mol-ecules of crystallization and the ?-octa-molybdate anion. All H atoms involved in the three-dimensional hydrogen-bonding network could be located from difference Fourier maps, with the exception of those of one disordered water mol-ecule, firstly seen in this structural report [refined over two distinct locations with site-occupancy factors of 0.65?(2) and 0.35?(2)]. The complete ?-octa-molybdate anion is generated by a crystallographic inversion centre.

New Tin (IV) and Organotin (IV) Complexes with a Hybrid Thiosemicarbazone/Hydrazone Ligand: Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and Antiproliferative Activity.

Project description:Nowadays, the search for new chemotherapeutic agents with low toxicity and high selectivity is a major concern. In this paper, we report the synthesis and characterization of a hybrid thiosemicarbazone/hydrazone ligand in its neutral form (L1H2) and as the chloride salt ([L1H3]Cl)-, three diorganotin (IV) complexes, and one complex with Sn (IV). The compounds have been fully characterized by IR, mass spectra, 1H, 13C, and 119Sn NMR, 119Sn CP/MAS NMR, and by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The organotin compounds have the empirical formula [SnR2L1] (R = Me, Bu, and Ph), but in the solid state, they are polymeric species with seven coordination number due to weak coordination of the pyridine nitrogen, whereas in solution, the polymeric structure is lost to afford hexacoordinate monomeric species. Reaction with SnI4 yields complex [Sn (L1)2]·EtOH, with the metal in a distorted dodecahedral arrangement. We have evaluated the antiproliferative activity of the two forms of the ligands and the four coordination compounds against MDA-MB-231, HeLa, PC3, and HepG2 cancer cell lines, and WI-38 normal cell line, and all the compounds present higher activity than cisplatin, used as the standard control. To investigate the mode of action, we have selected the most active complex, containing phenyl substituents, and used the triple negative breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231. The results show that the complex induces apoptotic cell death promoted by generation of reactive oxygen species and by disruption of mitochondrial membrane potential.
