Pseudobarbusverloreni, a new species, is described from material collected in the Verlorenvlei River system on the west coast of South Africa. It differs from its congeners (except Pseudobarbusskeltoni, Pseudobarbusburchelli, and Pseudobarbusburgi) by the presence of two pairs of oral barbels.
