Estrogen receptor alpha (ERalpha) plays an important role in breast cancer. Upregulation of HIF-1alpha in ER(alpha)-positive cancers suggests that HIF-1alpha may cooperate with ERalpha to promote breast cancer progression and consequently affect breast cancer treatment.
