Bacterial grain rot (BGR), caused by the bacterial pathogen <i>Burkholderia glumae</i>, is a destructive disease of rice. At anthesis, rice panicles are attacked by the pathogen, and the infection causes unfilled or aborted grains, reducing grain yield and quality.
