Crystal structure of hepta-guanidinium nona-hydrogen bis-[?-hexa-molybdoplatinate(IV)] hepta-hydrate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, (CH6N3)7H9[PtMo6O24]2·7H2O, containing the well-known Anderson-type heteropolyoxomolybdate, was obtained by recrystallization of its powdered guanidinium salt. The protonated O atoms in the polyanion were confirmed by electron-density maps, inter-polyanion hydrogen bonds and bond-valance sums (BVS). The {[H4.5PtMo6O24]2}(7-) polyanion is the same as that already characterized in K7[H4.5PtMo6O24]2·11H2O [space group P-1; Lee & Joo (2010 ?). Acta Cryst. E66, i8-i9]. The heteropolyanions form inversion-generated dimers, {[H4.5PtMo6O24]2}(7-), held together by each of the four ?3-O-H??1-O, two ?2-O-H??2-O hydrogen bonds and one centrosymmetric ?3-O-H-?3-O hydrogen bond. The H atom of the centrosymmetric hydrogen bond is located on an inversion centre. One guanidinium ion and one water mol-ecule are equally disordered about a twofold rotation axis.

Project description:Previously reported at a temperature of 298?(2)?K [Lee & Joo (2007 ?). Acta Cryst. E63, i11-i13], the title compound, K(7)[H(9)?-Pt(2)Mo(12)O(48)]·11H(2)O or K(7)[H(4.5)?-PtMo(6)O(24)](2)·11H(2)O, was redetermined at 146?(2)?K in order to determine whether the H atom in the hydrogen bond that crosses the center of symmetry was located at the center of symmetry or disordered around it as assumed in the previous study. During the present low-temperature study it was found on the center of symmetry. One water molecule shows half-occupancy.

Project description:The title double salt containing two distinct, differently protonated hexa-molybdoplatinate(IV) polyanions, Na6[H5.5 α-PtMo6O24][H4.5 α-PtMo6O24]·29H2O, has been synthesized by a hydro-thermal reaction at ca pH 1.80. The positions of the H atoms in the polyanions were established from difference Fourier maps and confirmed by the inter-polyanion hydrogen bonds, bond-distance elongation, and bond-valence sum (BVS) calculations. The fractional numbers of H atoms in each polyanion are required for charge balance and in order to avoid unrealistically short H⋯H distances in the inter-polyanion hydrogen bonds. Considering the disorder, the refined formula of the title polyanion, {[H5.5 α-PtMo6O24]; polyanion (A) and [H4.5 α-PtMo6O24]; polyanion (B)}(6-), can be rewritten as a set of real formula, viz. {[H6 α-PtMo6O24]; polyanion (A). [H4 α-PtMo6O24]; polyanion (B)}(6-) and {[H5 α-PtMo6O24]; polyanion (A). [H5 α-PtMo6O24]; polyanion (B)}(6-). The polyanion pairs both form dimers of the same formula, viz. {[H10 α-Pt2Mo12O48]}(6-) connected by seven inter-polyanion O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, K11[α-Pt(μ3-OH)2(μ3-OH0.5)Mo6(μ3-O)3(μ2-O)6O12]2·12H2O (simplified chemical formula K11[H2.5PtMo6O24]2·12H2O), containing the well-known Anderson-type heteropolyoxomolybdate anion, was obtained by hydro-thermal reaction at pH = ca 6.0. The complete polyanion dimer has 2/m symmetry. The locations of the H atoms with respect to protonated O atoms were obtained from difference Fourier maps, and confirmed by the inter-polyanion hydrogen bonds, bond-length elongation and bond-valence sums (BVSs). The title heteropolyanion has two types of protonated O atoms viz. μ3-OH, {Mo2-O(H)-Pt} and μ3-OH0.5 (disordered H atom). The [H2.5α-PtMo6O24](5.5-) polyanion forms a dimer, [(H2.5α-PtMo6O24)2](11-), held together by two pairs of μ3-O-H⋯μ1-O and of one disordered μ3-O⋯H⋯μ3-O hydrogen bonds. Three K(+) ions are located on special positions (two on twofold rotation axes, one on a mirror plane), and two K(+) ions are located on general positions with a reduced occupancy of 0.5. The remaining K(+) ion has a reduced occupancy of 0.25 for charge balance and reasonable displacement parameters. As a result, the numbers of K(+) and H(+) ions in the title compound are 5.5 and 2.5, respectively.

Project description:The title compound, KNa[H(6)PtMo(6)O(24)]·11H(2)O, contains a discrete hexa-molybdoplatinate(IV) [H(6)PtMo(6)O(24)](2-) poly-anion (1 symmetry), which has the highest level of protonation. Five O atoms of the central PtO(6) octa-hedron (?(3)-atoms, Oc) and one O atom of an outer edge-sharing MoO(6) octa-hedron (O bridging ?(2)-atom, Ob) are protonated. The polyanions are connected by almost linear O-H?O hydrogen bonds between protonated and unprotonated Ob atoms. Further consolidation of the crystal structure is accomplished by extensive O-H?O hydrogen bonding involving the uncoordinated water mol-ecules. The two independent K(+) cations are equally disordered about a twofold rotation axis.

The polyanion has approximate mm2 (C 2v ) symmetry. The two platinum-bound ?2-O atoms are protonated in the polyanion. The heteropolyanions form inversion-generated dimers, {[H2PtV9O28]2}(10-), held together by ?2-O-H??2-O and ?2-O-H??3-O hydrogen bonds. All K(+) cations are located on general positions of the space group P-1.

Project description:In the title compound, Na(3)(C(6)H(15)N(5)O)(2)[Al(OH)(6)Mo(6)O(18)](2)Cl·20H(2)O, the [Al(OH)(6)Mo(6)O(18)](3-) polyoxo-anion has a B-type Anderson structure exhibiting approximate D(3d) symmetry. There are two types of sodium cations: the Na(+) cations of type I have a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry formed by six O atoms and are statistically distributed over two positions with equal occupancies, while the coordination polyhedra of the two Na(+) cations of type II share one Cl anion located on an inversion center. The latter fragment, containing a Cl anion and two sodium cations, links two polyoxoanions into centrosymmetric blocks. The diprotonated 1-[imino-(morpholino)meth-yl]guanidinium cations and uncordinated water mol-ecules contribute to extensive N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding, resulting in the formation a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The complete polyoxidometallate anion in the title compound, (CH6N3)4[H6V4As6O30]·4H2O, is generated by crystallographic inversion symmetry. The polyhedral building units are distorted VO6 octa-hedra and AsO3OH tetra-hedra. The VO6 units feature a short formal V=O double bond and are linked by a common edge. Two such V2O6 double octahedral units are linked by four isolated AsO3OH tetra-hedra to complete the anion, which features two inter-nal O-H?O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the polyoxidometallate anions generate (01-1) sheets. The sheets are connected by cation-to-cluster N-H?O hydrogen bonds, and cation-to-water N-H?O links also occur. The O atom of one of the water mol-ecules is disordered over two sites in a 0.703?(17):0.297?(17) ratio.

Project description:Nonavanadoplatinate [Pt(IV)V9O28](7-), which is the first heteropolyoxovanadate in the deca-vanadate framework, [V10O28](6-), has been investigated crystallographically. The title compound, Na9[H2Pt(IV)V9O28][H3Pt(IV)V9O28]·40H2O, was obtained by a hydro-thermal reaction at pH = 2. This compound contains two different protonated heteropolyoxovanadates, [H2Pt(IV)V9O28](5-) [polyanion (A)] and [H3Pt(IV)V9O28](7-) [polyanion (B)]. The locations of the H atoms on the protonated O atoms were observed in difference Fourier maps and confirmed by the inter-polyanion hydrogen bonds, bond-length elongation and bond-valence-sum (VBS) analysis. The two (Pt and V)-bound μ2-O atoms are protonated in both polyanions. The position of the third protonated O atom in polyanion (B) is an inter-esting feature of the structure, being located on one (V2)-bound μ2-O atom. The discrete heteropolyanions form a dimer, {H5[PtV9O28]2}(9-), through five inter-polyanion hydrogen bonds. Additional O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and interactions between Na(+) cations and water molecules as well as terminal O atoms of one of the polyanions consolidate the crystal packing.

The guanidinium cations are hydrogen bonded with the ?(2)- and terminal O atoms of the polyanion, connecting the polyanions into a three-dimensional network.

Crystal structure of potassium sodium hepta-hydrogen hexa-molybdocobaltate(III) octa-hydrate: an extra-protonated B-series Anderson-type heteropolyoxidometalate.

Project description:The title compound, KNa[Co(III)(OH)7{Mo6O17}]·8H2O, was obtained by the ion-exchange technique from K3[Co(μ3-OH)6Mo6O18]·7H2O. Six μ3-O atoms and one O atom of the bridging μ2-O atom are protonated. This novel polyanion protonated by an extra H atom is an unexpected polyanion species among the B-series Anderson-type polyoxidometalates (POMs), [X(n) (+)(μ3-OH)6Mo6O18]((6-n)-)] (X = heteroatom). The extra H atom (seventh H atom) in the polyanion does not lie on a crystallographic centre of symmetry, but is located at the mid-point between two μ2-O atoms of adjacent polyanions, and forms a very short hydrogen bond [2.430 (5) Å]. The present structure is considered as particularly significant in understanding noncentrosymmetric strong hydrogen bonding.
