Accidental oral detergent ingestion usually causes mild gastrointestinal manifestations including nausea, vomiting and diarrhea as well as upper airway irritation. There are a limited number of reported oral detergent ingestions leading to acute kidney injury, mainly due to rhabdomyolysis.
