PhI(OAc)<sub>2</sub> serves as a mild and effective oxidant for the synthesis of <i>s</i>-tetrazine derivatives- molecules of emerging significance to the field of bioorthogonal chemistry. This reagent serves as a complementary oxidant to harsher nitrous reagents.
