The disease oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy is caused by alanine codon trinucleotide expansions in the N-terminal segment of the nuclear poly(A) binding protein PABPN1. As histochemical features of the disease, intranuclear inclusions of PABPN1 have been reported.
