Crystal structure of 4-[(2,4-di-chloro-phen-yl)(5-hy-droxy-3-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)meth-yl]-5-methyl-2-phenyl-2,3-di-hydro-1H-pyrazol-3-one.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound C27H22Cl2N4O2, the pyrazol-5-ol ring makes a dihedral angle of 34.80?(11)° with the phenyl ring to which it is bound, while the pyrazolone ring is inclined at 34.34?(12)° to its attached phenyl ring. In the crystal, N-H?O and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into chains along [010]. Inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions are observed between the pyrazolone ring and the phenyl ring bound to the pyrazol-5-ol ring system [centroid-centroid separation = 3.916?(2)?Å].

In mol-ecule A, the dihedral angles between the central pyrazole ring and pendant di-chloro-benzene and p-tolyl rings are 2.18?(16) and 46.78?(16)°, respectively. In mol-ecule B, the equivalent angles are 27.45?(16) and 40.45?(18)°, respectively. Each mol-ecule features an intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond, which closes an S(6) ring and mol-ecule A also features a C-H?O inter-action. In the crystal, weak C-H?? interactions and aromatic ?-? stacking [shortest centroid-centroid separation = 3.707?(2)?Å] generate a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, 2C14H14N4O·H2O, comprises a neutral mol-ecule containing a central pyrazol-3-one ring flanked by an N-bound phenyl group and a C-bound 5-methyl-1H-pyrazol-3-yl group (at positions adjacent to the carbonyl substituent), its zwitterionic tautomer, whereby the N-bound proton of the central ring is now resident on the pendant ring, and a water mol-ecule of crystallization. Besides systematic variations in geometric parameters, the two independent organic mol-ecules have broadly similar conformations, as seen in the dihedral angle between the five-membered rings [9.72 (9)° for the neutral mol-ecule and 3.32 (9)° for the zwitterionic tautomer] and in the dihedral angles between the central and pendant five-membered rings [28.19 (8) and 20.96 (8)° (neutral mol-ecule); 11.33 (9) and 11.81 (9)°]. In the crystal, pyrazolyl-N-H⋯O(carbon-yl) and pyrazolium-N-H⋯N(pyrazol-yl) hydrogen bonds between the independent organic mol-ecules give rise to non-symmetric nine-membered {⋯HNNH⋯NC3O} and {⋯HNN⋯HNC3O} synthons, which differ in the positions of the N-bound H atoms. These aggregates are connected into a supra-molecular layer in the bc plane by water-O-H⋯N(pyrazolide), water-O-H⋯O(carbon-yl) and pyrazolyl-N-H⋯O(water) hydrogen bonding. The layers are linked into a three-dimensional architecture by methyl-C-H⋯π(phen-yl) inter-actions. The different inter-actions, in particular the weaker contacts, formed by the organic mol-ecules are clearly evident in the calculated Hirshfeld surfaces, and the calculated electrostatic potentials differentiate the tautomers.

As expected, the compound adopts a trans configuration about the central C=N bond. The N atom is involved in an intra-molecular O-H?N bond which stabilizes the mol-ecular configuration. In the crystal structure, adjacent mol-ecules stack with no short contacts.
