Poly[μ2-aqua-aqua-[μ3-N-butyl-N-(2-hy-droxy-ethyl)di-thio-carbamato-κ(3) O,O':S]sodium].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Na(C7H14NOS2)(H2O)2] n , the Na(I) cation is coordinated by five O atoms [Na-O = 2.3142 (11)-2.4677 (10) Å] from three aqua and two N-butyl-N-(2-hy-droxy-eth-yl)di-thio-carbamate (L) ligands and one S atom [Na-S = 3.0074 (6) Å] from a third L ligand in a highly distorted octa-hedral geometry. Two aqua ligands related by an inversion center bridge two Na(I) cations, and each L ligand coordinates three Na(I) cations, leading to a layered arrangement aligned parallel to the bc plane. Inter-molecular O-H⋯S hydrogen bonds are observed in the inner part of each polymeric layer; these are packed along the a axis and held together by weak van der Waals forces.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, {[CaPd{CH3OHC(PO3)2}(H2O)5]·5/3H2O} n , consists of one half of the complex [Pd{CH3OHC(PO3)2}](2-) anion (point group symmetry m..), one Ca(2+) cation [site symmetry (.2.)] that is surrounded by three water mol-ecules (one of which is on the same rotation axis) and by three disordered lattice water mol-ecules. The anions form a trinuclear metallocycle around a crystallographic threefold rotation axis. The cations are related by a twofold rotation axis to form a [Ca2(H2O)10](2+) dimer. The slightly distorted square-planar coordination environment of the Pd(II) atoms in the complex anions is formed by O atoms of the bidentate chelating phospho-nate groups of the 1-hy-droxy-ethyl-idene-1,1-di-phospho-nate ligands. In the crystal, cations are bound to anions through -Ca-O-P-O- bonds, as well as through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, resulting in a three-dimensional polymer. The structure is completed by five disordered solvent mol-ecules localized in cavities within the framework.

If Mo-Mo bonds are ignored, each Mo atom can be considered as six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Mo-Mo distance of 2.6880 (5) Å for two the Mo atoms bridged by the acetate ligand is shorter than the other two Mo-Mo distances [2.7490 (5) and 2.7566 (5) Å]. One ethyl group is disordered between two conformations in a 0.65 (3):0.35 (3) ratio. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯O inter-actions link the trinuclear mol-ecules related by translation in [100] into chains. The crystal packing exhibits short inter-molecular S⋯S contacts of 3.1886 (13) Å. In other words, in this crystal packing, a supramolecular structure is constructed by the C-H⋯O and S⋯S interactions.

The bipyridine ligand is completed by inversion symmetry. The metal cation exhibits a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry provided by two O and one N atoms of the thio-semicarbazide ligand, two O atoms of the nitrate anion, one S atom of a neighbouring thio-semicarbazide ligand and one 4,4'-bi-pyridine N atom. The bridging role of the thio-semicarbazide ligand through the S atom leads to centrosymmetric binuclear units, which are further linked by 4,4'-bi-pyridine units, forming polymeric chains extending along the b-axis direction. An intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond occurs. The crystal structure also features N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional network.
