Crystal structure of bis-(2-methyl-1H-imidazol-3-ium) ?-oxalato-bis-[n-butyl-tri-chlorido-stannate(IV)].

ABSTRACT: The Sn(IV) atom in the centrosymmetric anion of the title salt, (C4H7N2)2[Sn2(C4H9)2(C2O4)Cl6], is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral mode by two O atoms of a bridging oxalate moiety, three Cl atoms and a C atom of an n-butyl group. The latter is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.66:0.33 occupancy ratio. N-H?O and N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds involving the 2-methyl-imidazolium cation and neighbouring anions result in the formation of chains extending parallel to [001].

Project description:The tin(IV) atom in the complex anion of the title salt, (C4H7N2)[Sn(C2O4)Cl3(H2O)], is in a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment defined by three chlorido ligands, an oxygen atom from a water mol-ecule and two oxygen atoms from a chelating oxalate anion. The organic cation is linked through a bifurcated N-H?O hydrogen bond to the free oxygen atoms of the oxalate ligand of the complex [Sn(H2O)Cl3(C2O4)](-) anion. Neighbouring stannate(IV) anions are linked through O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecule and the two non-coordinating oxalate oxygen atoms. In combination with additional N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds between cations and anions, a three-dimensional network is spanned.

Project description:The title salt, (C6H14N)2[Sn(C2O4)Cl4], was obtained as a by-product from the reaction between 2C6H14N(+)·C2O4 (2-)·1.5H2O and SnCl2·2H2O. The cyclo-hexyl-ammonium cation has a chair conformation. The complex anion consists of an oxalate anion chelating the SnCl4 moiety, resulting in a distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere of the Sn(IV) atom with the O atoms in equatorial cis positions. In the crystal, cations and anions are linked through N-H?O and N-H?Cl inter-actions into a layered arrangement parallel to (100).

Project description:In the title compound, [N(C4H9)4][Sn(C4H9)Cl4], the Sn(IV) atom of the stannate anion has a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination sphere by two Cl atoms and one butyl chain in the equatorial plane and by two Cl atoms in the apical positions. Two of the four butyl chains of the tetra-butyl-ammonium cation are partially disordered, each with refined site occupancies of 0.691?(6):0.309?(6). Weak C-H?Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions help to consolidate the crystal packing, as well as a short Cl?Cl inter-action of 3.295?(2)?Å.

Project description:In the structure of the hydrated title salt, (C4H7N2)2[Sn(C2O4)2(OH)2]·H2O, the asymmetric unit comprises one stannate(IV) dianion, two organic cations and one water mol-ecule of crystallization. The [Sn(C2O4)2(OH)2](2-) dianion consists of an Sn(IV) atom chelated by two oxalate anions and coordinated by two OH(-) ligands in a cis octa-hedral arrangement. Neighbouring anions are connected through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between hydroxide groups and non-coordinating oxalate O atoms into layers expanding parallel to (100). In addition, cations and anions are linked through N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, and the water mol-ecule bridges two anions with two O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and is also the acceptor of an N-H⋯O hydrogen bond with one of the cations. Weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are also observed. The intricate hydrogen bonding leads to the formation of a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, (C(6)H(16)N)(2)[SnCl(6)], crystallizes with one diisopropyl-ammonium cation lying on a general position and the hexa-chloridostannate(IV) anion about a centre of inversion. The [SnCl(6)](2-) anion undergoes a slight distortion from octa-hedral symmetry as the result of the formation of four unforked charge-supported N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. The hydrogen bonds between the cations and anions form layers perpendicular to [101]. These layers are built by 24-membered rings which can be classified with an R(8) (8)(24) graph-set descriptor. According to this hydrogen-bonding motif, the title compound is isostructural with (C(6)H(16)N)(2)[IrCl(6)].

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(5)H(5)BrN)(2)[SnCl(6)], contains one cation and one half-anion. The [SnCl(6)](2-) anion is located on an inversion center and forms a quasi-regular octa-hedral arrangement. Hydrogen-bonding inter-actions of two kinds, viz. N-H?Cl-Sn and C-H?Cl-Sn, along with Cl?Br inter-actions [3.4393?(15)?Å], connect the ions in the crystal structure into two-dimensional supra-molecular arrays. Project description:The title compound, [Sn(C4H9)2(C2O4)] n , an unexpected side product in the reaction of di-tert-butyl-tin(IV) oxide with nitric acid, represents the first diorganotin(IV) oxalate to be structurally characterized. The Sn(IV) atom of the one-dimensional coordination polymer is located on a mirror plane and is coordinated by two chelating oxalate ions with two rather different Sn-O bond lengths of 2.150 (1) and 2.425 (1) Å, and two t-butyl groups with Sn-C bond lengths of 2.186 (2) and 2.190 (2) Å. The coordination polyhedron around the Sn(IV) atom is a distorted tetra-gonal disphenoid. The centrosymmetric oxalate ion also has an asymmetric coordination geometry, as reflected by the two slightly different C-O bond lengths of 1.242 (2) and 1.269 (2) Å. The chains of the polymer propagate along the b-axis direction. Only van der Waals inter-actions are observed between the chains.

The other sites of the distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry of the Sn(IV) atom are occupied by three Cl atoms and one O atom from a dimethyl-formamide mol-ecule. The complex mol-ecules are connected by weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional supra-molecular network parallel to (10).
