<h4>Background</h4>The prevalence of capillary malformations, also known as port-wine stains (PWS), is 0.3%. Familial segregation can occur. The capillary malformation-arteriovenous malformation (CM-AVM) phenotype is caused by mutations in the RASA1 gene.
