Production of mycophenolic acid (MPA) by submerged fermentation using the microfungus <i>Penicillium brevicompactum</i> MTCC 8010 is reported here. Screening experiments were used to identify: the suitable media composition; the optimal initial pH; and the optimal incubation temperature to maximize the production of MPA in batch cultures.
