The ground-dweller spider genus <i>Dysdera</i> shows very high species richness on the oceanic archipelago of the Canary Islands, providing one of the most outstanding examples of island radiation among spiders, only paralleled by <i>Tetragnatha</i> spiders on the Hawaiian archipelago.
