A taxonomic review of the genus Horniolus Weise from China, with description of a new species (Coleoptera, Coccinellidae).

ABSTRACT: Five species of the genus Horniolus Weise, 1901 from China are revised, including the description of a new species, Horniolus hainanensis Chen & Ren, sp. n.Horniolus sonduongensis Hoàng, 1979 is reported from China for the first time. A key to the species from China is provided. Nomenclatural history, diagnoses, detailed descriptions, illustrations, and distribution for each species have been provided. A checklist of all known species of this genus is also presented.

Project description:Twenty species of the genus Telsimia from China are reviewed herein. Among them, eight species are described as new to science: Telsimia chayuensis, T.&nbsp;forcipata, T.&nbsp;latus, T.&nbsp;lobatus, T.&nbsp;lunata, T.&nbsp;menglaensis, T.&nbsp;parascymnoides, and T.&nbsp;parvus spp. nov.; two species are reported from China for the first time: T.&nbsp;darjeelingensis Kapur, 1969 and T.&nbsp;elongate Hoàng, 1985. All species are provided with nomenclatural history, diagnoses, detailed descriptions (except for the 10 previously described species), colored illustrations, and distributions. The female genitalia of five described species are provided for the first time. A distribution map and a key to all the Chinese species are also provided.

Project description:Chinese members of the genus Aspidimerus Mulsant, 1850 are reviewed. Ten species are recognized, including two new species: A. zhenkangicus Huo & Ren, sp. n. and A. menglensis Huo & Ren, sp. n. A. kabakovi Hoàng is recorded from China for the first time. A. blandus (Mader, 1954) is recognized as synonymous with A. ruficrus Gorham, 1895 (syn. n.). Aspidimerus rectangulatus Kuznetsov & Pang, 1991 and A. serratus Kuznetsov & Pang, 1991 are transferred to the genus Pseudaspidimerus Kapur, 1948 (comb. n.). All species from China are described and illustrated. Distribution maps of the Chinese species, a key and a catalogue of all known Aspidimerus are provided.

Project description:The genus Microrhagus Dejean, 1833 is reviewed with four species from Korea: Microrhagusfoveolatus (Fleutiaux, 1923), Microrhagusjejuensis sp. n., Microrhagusmystagogus (Fleutiaux, 1923), and Microrhagusramosus (Fleutiaux, 1902). Herein, all Korean Microrhagus species are redescribed. A key to species of Korean Microrhagus and photographs of the diagnostic characters are also provided.

Taxonomic note and description of new species of Fissocantharis Pic from China (Coleoptera, Cantharidae).

Project description:Two new species of Fissocantharis Pic are described, Fissocantharisbifoveatus sp. n. (CHINA: Yunnan) and Fissocantharisacuticollis sp. n. (CHINA: Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Hunan). Fissocantharispieli (Pic, 1937) is redescribed and Fissocanthariskontumensis Wittmer, 1989 is provided with a supplementary description. Fissocantharisshanensis (Wittmer, 1997) is synonymized with Fissocanthariskontumensis. For the above four species, illustrations of male genitalia are provided, for the latter three also photos of female genitalia and abdominal sternites VIII, and for the new species photos of male habitus and antennae are presented. Additionally, the specific name of Fissocanthariswittmeri (Y. Yang et X. Yang, 2009), preoccupied by Fissocanthariswittmeri (Kazantsev, 2007), is replaced by Fissocanthariswalteri Y. Yang et X. Yang, nom. n. And Fissocanthariswittmeri (Kazantsev, 2007) is found to be a junior objective synonym of Fissocantharisdenominata (Wittmer, 1997).
