"Vaginella massiliensis" gen. nov., sp. nov., a new genus cultivated from human female genital tract.

ABSTRACT: We relate the main characteristics of "Vaginella massiliensis" strain Marseille P2517 (= DSM 102346 = CSUR P2517), a new member of the Flavobacteriaceae family. The strain Marseille P2517 was cultivated from a vaginal swab from a healthy 22-year-old woman.

Project description:Strain ND3T was isolated from the genital tract of a 28-year-old woman with bacterial vaginosis. This strain exhibited a 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 92.4% with Sutterella wadsworthensis, the phylogenetically closest species with standing in nomenclature. Strain ND3T was a strictly anaerobic Gram-negative rod and member of the family Sutterellaceae. It exhibited a genome of 2 476 884 bp containing 2175 protein-coding and 62 RNA genes. On the basis of these data, we propose the creation of 'Dakarella massiliensis' sp. nov. with strain ND3T (= CSUR P1938 = DSM 100447) as the type strain.

Mageeibacillus indolicus gen. nov., sp. nov.: a novel bacterium isolated from the female genital tract.

Project description:Three isolates of a bacterium recovered from human endometrium using conventional culture methods were characterized biochemically and subjected to 16S rRNA gene sequencing and phylogenetic analysis. Isolates were non-motile, obligately anaerobic, non-spore forming, asaccharolytic, non-cellulolytic, indole positive, Gram positive rods. Cell wall fatty acid profiling revealed C14:0, C16:0, C18:2 ω6, 9c, C18:1 ω9c and C18:0 to be the major fatty acid composition. The DNA mol % G+C was determined to be 44.2%. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed only 91% sequence similarity with the closest cultivated bacterial isolate, Saccharofermentans acetigenes. Based on genotypic and phenotypic data, all three isolates are considered to be members of the same species and data suggest it represents a novel genus and species in the order Clostridiales with an association with Clostridium rRNA cluster III within the family Ruminococcaceae. We propose the name, Mageeibacillus indolicus gen. nov., sp. nov. The type strain is BAA-2120(T) and CCUG 59143(T).

Taxonogenomics of Culturomica massiliensis gen. nov., sp. nov., and Emergencia timonensis gen. nov., sp. nov. new bacteria isolated from human stool microbiota.

Project description:Two new bacterial strains, Marseille-P2698T (CSUR P2698 = DSM 103,121) and Marseille-P2260T (CSUR P2260 = DSM 101,844 = SN18), were isolated from human stools by the culturomic method. We used the taxonogenomic approach to fully describe these two new bacterial strains. The Marseille-P2698T strain was a Gram-negative, motile, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped bacterium. The Marseille-P2260T strain was a Gram-positive, motile, spore-forming rod-shaped bacterium. Major fatty acids found in Marseille-P2698T were C15:0 iso (63%), C15:0 anteiso (11%), and C17:0 3-OH iso (8%). Those found in Marseille-P2260T strain were C16:00 (39%), C18:1n9 (16%) and C18:1n7 (14%). Strains Marseille-P2698T and Marseille-P2260T had 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities of 91.50% with Odoribacter laneusT, and of 90.98% and 95.07% with Odoribacter splanchnicusT and Eubacterium sulciT, respectively. The exhibited digital DNA-DNA Hybridization values lower than 20.7%, and Orthologous Average Nucleotide Identity values lower than 73% compared to their closest related bacterial species O. splanchnicusT and E. sulciT respectively. Phenotypic, biochemical, phylogenetic, and genomic results obtained by comparative analyses provided sufficient evidence that both of the two studied strains Marseille-P2698T and Marseille-P2260T are two new bacterial species and new bacterial genera for which the names Culturomica massiliensis gen. nov., sp. nov., and Emergencia timonensis gen. nov., sp. nov. were proposed, respectively.

Project description:Fenollaria massiliensis strain 9401234(T), is the type strain of Fenollaria massiliensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a new species within a new genus Fenollaria. This strain, whose genome is described here, was isolated from an osteoarticular sample. F. massiliensis strain 9401234(T) is an obligate anaerobic Gram-negative bacillus. Here we describe the features of this organism, together with the complete genome sequence and annotation. The 1.71 Mbp long genome exhibits a G+C content of 34.46% and contains 1,667 protein-coding and 30 RNA genes, including 3 rRNA genes.
