Draft Genome Sequence for a Urinary Isolate of Nosocomiicoccus ampullae.

ABSTRACT: A draft genome sequence for a urinary isolate of Nosocomiicoccus ampullae (UMB0853) was investigated. The size of the genome was 1,578,043 bp, with an observed G+C content of 36.1%. Annotation revealed 10 rRNA sequences, 40 tRNA genes, and 1,532 protein-coding sequences. Genome coverage was 727× and consisted of 32 contigs, with an N50 of 109,831 bp.

Project description::Enterobacter ludwigii is a fermentative Gram-negative environmental species and accidental human pathogen that belongs to the Enterobacter cloacae complex with the general characteristics of the genus Enterobacter. The clinical isolate E. ludwigii CEB04 was derived from a urinary tract catheter of an individual not suffering from catheter-associated urinary tract infection. The draft genome sequence of the high biofilm forming E. ludwigii CEB04 was determined by PacBio sequencing. The chromosome of E. ludwigii CEB04 is comprised of one contig of 4,892,375 bps containing 4596 predicted protein-coding genes and 120 noncoding RNAs. E. ludwigii CEB04 harbors several antimicrobial resistance markers and has an extended cyclic-di-GMP signaling network compared to Escherichia coli K-12.

Project description:We report the draft genome sequence of a vaginal isolate of Atopobium vaginae vaginae (strain 44061), an organism linked to bacterial vaginosis (BV), the most common gynecological infection in the United States. This species is often highly resistant to metronidazole, which is a front-line therapy for BV. Strain 44061 is a metronidazole-susceptible isolate (MIC, 16 µg/ml), and its genome sequence will be useful for comparative studies to elucidate the molecular basis of metronidazole resistance in this species.

Project description:We report the draft genome sequence of a Gardnerella vaginalis strain (3549624) isolated from a vaginal specimen. G. vaginalis is associated with bacterial vaginosis, the most common cause of vaginal discharge, which is often treated with metronidazole. This isolate is highly resistant to metronidazole (MIC, 500 µg/ml) and may be useful for comparative genomic studies to determine the molecular basis of metronidazole resistance in this species.
