While 20-30% of colorectal cancers (CRCs) may arise from precursors with serrated glands, only 8-10% of CRCs manifest serrated morphology at diagnosis. Markers for distinguishing CRCs arising from 'serrated' versus 'conventional adenoma' precursors are lacking.
