We describe a new residual for general regression models, defined as <i>pr</i>(<i>Y</i><sup>*</sup> < <i>y</i>) - <i>pr</i>(<i>Y</i><sup>*</sup> > <i>y</i>), where <i>y</i> is the observed outcome and <i>Y</i><sup>*</sup> is a random variable from the fitted distribution.
