Elevated triglycerides (TG) contribute towards increased risk for cardiovascular disease. Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is an enzyme that is responsible for the metabolism of core triglycerides of very-low density lipoproteins (VLDL) and chylomicrons in the vasculature.
