De Sanctis-Cacchione (DSC) syndrome is one of the rarest, most severe forms of xeroderma pigmentosum (XP). These patients with XP are of short stature, have mental disabilities, and develop progressive neurologic degeneration because of a severe inability to repair damaged DNA.
