The <i>Plasmodium falciparum</i> Lactate Dehydrogenase enzyme (<i>Pf</i>LDH) catalyzes inter-conversion of pyruvate to lactate during glycolysis producing the energy required for parasitic growth. The <i>Pf</i>LDH has been studied as a potential molecular target for development of anti-malarial agents.
