<i>Drosophila</i> dorsal closure is a morphogenetic movement that involves flanking epidermal cells, assembling actomyosin cables, and migrating dorsally over the underlying amnioserosa to seal at the dorsal midline. Echinoid (Ed)-a cell adhesion molecule of adherens junctions (AJs)-participates in several developmental processes.
