A stripe pattern is an aposematic or camouflage coloration often observed among various caterpillars. However, how this ecologically important pattern is formed is largely unknown. The silkworm dominant mutant <i>Zebra</i> (<i>Ze</i>) has a black stripe in the anterior margin of each dorsal segment.
