We recently reported that the accumulation of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC), defined as CD33<sup>+</sup>HLA-DR<sup>-</sup>Lin<sup>-</sup>, has a direct role in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).
